Geek Madness is live, X-wing needs your vote!

Where Settlers is concerned, there has come a point in literally every game where I wonder aloud why I have cities and seaports but no real military to defend them from my unfairly expansionist, resource-hogging neighbors. Because nothing says "you know, it would be mutually beneficial if you offered to sell me some bricks at a reasonable price" like an infantry division in snazzy uniforms massing just on my side of the border.

So you're right that there's more conflict and randomness in Settlers than in a typical Euro, but not enough conflict.

Maybe it should have been called the Hippies of Catan ''Peaceful opposition maaannn! If you don't trade some wheat with me, I'm gonna build a road to stop you!''.... Which makes me think, we don't know what's really on those roads the opponents won't dare to take...... But yeah, I tried Settlers a couple times, but it's not on my personal replay list. I can see the appeal and why it's considered a classic, it's just not my kind of game. Same goes for Agricola or Caverna....

During Wave II, I realized that I was enjoying, and was obsessed with, this game more than any other that I'd played. After 30 years of hobby gaming, this was the first one worthy of a 10/10 rating. I thought they just don't get any better than this.

And since then, it has gotten better.

So yeah. Subwhatia?

I actually enjoy both styles of games, but Eurogames can feel a bit, well...clinical, for lack of a better word. That's fine by me some of the time, but I definitely require a healthy mix of other games for variety.

Also, many Eurogames seem to go out of their way to be ugly in the name of "clean and elegant" design. Minimalistic design has its merits, but cool minis and sculpts are a definite selling point for me, especially if it involves a Millennium Falcon that can sit on my desk!

Looks like x-wing took the lead, lets keep supporting it

So X-Wing appears to have beat Suburbia! Nice going! Let's all get ready for round 2!

I voted, but looks like x-wing is behind right now. Lets get out the vote.

It is just a tough bracket for X-wing to be in. If it beats Robinson Crusoe, it will have to face the winner of the Agricola/Resistence matchup. That is going to be very, very tough on that website. Followed by Ticket to Ride most likely

This time I voted for X-wing AND Spacer 2.

Just hedging my bets, you know?

Edit: Reading through all of the negative comments against X-wing is fairly entertaining. Lotsa "I've played it once but it's just a Star War skin on Wings of War so (insert game) gets my vote".

Euro game neckbearding should not beat X-wing. We need to rally the troops!

Yeah, I voted for X-Wing again. But if it wins this round and goes against the Resistance, it will be a very tough call! The game is always a winner that brings a lot of laughter and treachery to the table. This feeling when you realise that the guy you thrusted the most is actually a spy... priceless. The best party game I ever played.

I might be one of the spy on this forum that will secretly vote against X-Wing to make the mission fail... or a good guy that will vote for X-Wing! What am I saying? Of course I'm a good guy! But that guy up there, I don't like how he keeps quiet and avoid our eyecontact... I bet he's a spy.... You must bring me on the next mission!

Well it pretty much is a Star Wars skin on wings of war, which kept me out of it for a while. Then, I decided I quite liked the skin, that it was a pretty snazzy plastic surgery job as plastic surgery jobs go, and that I was going to have to dish out loads of money for it.

If X-wing meets Resistance, I honestly don't know how I'll vote.

Man Vorpal! I thought I would be the only one with the guts to say it on the X-Wing Forum. :P I guess you're a spy! Hey everyone! Vorpal's a spy! don't bring him in the mission! Bring me instead! I'm thrustworthy.

I think we share a lot in common... if you're ever in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, you're officially invited for a gaming night!

I voted for X-wing, amongst other systems I've played, plus added a comment.

Still 50 back, go go go!
