50 Point Rebel List Help

By Gingernatar, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm going to be competing in a 50 point tournament at my local game store, and I wanted to see what everyone thought of my build:

Chewbacca (42)

C-3PO (3)

R2-D2 (4)

Millennium Falcon (1)

It will probably work, but I don't think I'd play it. I'm guessing 50 points isn't a super-competitive tournament, probably a friendly situation with lots of new players trying out a couple of fighters. If that's the case. your extremely-difficult to damage Falcon (that you have to kill to get any points) is downright rude. Souped up Falcons are generally balanced at 100 points where lists can bring enough stuff to deal with them. At 50, its much closer to imbalanced. It's not unbeatable, 4x Academy TIEs or Z-95s can chew into it over time, but I would guess that nobody playing you is going to have much fun. Make of that what you will.

I think that it will be competitive, as it is a Fantasy Flight sponsored tournament that will have prizes.

While he can be nice I think I'd stay away from R2-D2. The reason there is simply that the little droid will round counter to what Chewbacca does once the Falcon takes any damage. To put things another way while Chewbacca normally doesn't care about getting dealt face up cards because he'll just turn them face down R2D2 completely messes that up by turning one card over every turn. My thought is that you should take out R2-D2 and add an offensive upgrade such as Predator; with one ships you want to make sure you are hitting every turn.

I'd also expect to see some four ship swarms which could be trouble for you. Even three ships can be a hassle.

What about this?:

Chewbacca (42)

Lone Wolf (2)

C-3PO (3)

Recon Specialist (3)

This way I guess 0, then if I get a blank, I re-roll. If I get a focus, I use one of my focus tokens.

Lone Wolf almost seems like cheating in a one ship list.

Honestly FFG made some mistakes.

But one of them isn't:

Making game balance around 50 points. As others have stated those Falcons are balanced at 100.

You are absolutely not special or intelligent for using the most obvious combos in an honestly stupid format.

But if you wanna be that guy. Go ahead. Just don't lose sleep asking why people aren't as nice as they used to be.
