Yesterday I was doing some list planning for the scum ships i just bought (mostly just most wanted) and came up with a list:

Kath Scarlet (total:43)

Elusiveness(2)

K4 security droid (3)

Binayre Pirate (16)X2 =32 total

munitions failsafe (1)

Hot shot blaster (3)

N'dru Shulak( z-95) total(25)

lone wolf (2)

stealth device (3)

Hotshot blaster(3)

anyway I like to plan out how i'm going to move for the first couple of turns with all of my lists and came up with a really awesome formation. (sorry about poor quality on some of them, i was using my phone)

start with kath (or other firespray) flanked on either side by the z's make sure they are parallel and about the width of the range ruler apart like this:

first move of the manuver:

and then the K turn:

I came up with this because well, i want kaths extra die from her her arc so its ment for her to k-turn and leave the z's in a good position:

OK so i played a couple games Tuesday, and was able to use the "Scarlet Cross" on one of them!! it worked PERFECTLY, made a huge difference in the game...

I was using the list i posted above and my opponent was running somthing like this

Dash: mangaler cannon+outrider+recon spec

X2 syndicate thugs: btl title+ioncannon + a droid (i think)

so he set up to joust (which is what the cross is made for)

(i apologize for the poor quality i was holding above my head to get a good angle and it didnt work so well...)

round 1 i did 1 forward with (2 with the zs) he did 3 forward

round 2 i started the Cross peforming the banks with the zs and a 3k turn with Kath

he did 2 or 3 again, bringing kath into range 1 of the y wings were she dealt 3 damage to 1 and received a total of 4 damage (including 1 ion token)

round 3 i performed the bank variant of the cross resulting in both of his ys bumping my unexpected z's

then round 4 the zs did a 3k and kath continued forward, dash broke off but his y-wings were caught in the middle and slaughtered over the next 2 turns

(this natural roll form kath really helped, 3hits and 2 crits)

any way this left me far away ahead in points but in the end his initiative won as dash was able to pick apart the rest of squad barely winning by the skin of his teeth with only 1 hit point left which wasn't lost because he shot first (if i had had initiative i would have slaughtered dash with kath, but alas i didn't)

so what have i learned? that this move can greatly increase your jousting effectiveness and left my opponent with a rather large hole to clime out of. (if we were in a tournament i probably would have one by time)

This isn't something your doing in the first round is it? Are you taking the ships straight forward and doing this on the round that the ships first engage?

Flipping around to take a four/five dice unmodified attack seems like you'd do less damage than if you did a green move to trigger K4, and then used your action to focus. That gives you a three/four dice attack with TL+Focus.

K4 Security droid seems like the wrong crew if this what you are planning to do. I'd consider taking either Outlaw Tech or maybe Gunner. Elusiveness also seems like a bad choice for an EPT. Using it prevents you from performing a k-turn the following round, and it looks you'll be picking up stress in the first round of shooting and possibly keeping it for the next round or two.

I love the plan. I would just caution that it's all fun and games until someone sneaks a Prototype Pilot or a Tie Fighter in there to block you.

It's not something I'd want to try to do all the time -- that's a lot of space where a blocker can really screw up your plans/formations -- but it's an interesting way to get overlapping fields of fire, and maybe even to drop a bomb the next turn, from time to time. As always, the effort put in to demonstrate it with pics is a nice addition, as well.

And then KEEP THEM IN THE REAR ARC while you are right that outlaw tech is better for the turn of the k-turn k4 is better for the turn after which is when i intend to start doing damage, which is why i took elusiveness to help against damage while they are following kath not before she k-turns (i also intend on doing a green maneuver every turn possible for k4 so i don't care about the stress from elusiveness to much)

I didn't catch that the follow up post was two options for what to do after the K-Turn and not two rounds of movements. It looked like you were having Kath: K-Turn, 2 Straight, and then finally do a green move. Two rounds right off the bat of not getting an action, or benefiting from either of those upgrades seemed like a waste. It's not as big a concern if you are usually going to be following the K-Turn up with a green move.

If you could free up a point somewhere, throwing Intertial Dampeners on Kath would payoff if her K-Turn would end up getting blocked.

I'd be tempted to drop Munitions Failsafe and Stealth Device to put both Intertial Dampeners and Engine Upgrade on Kath. Engine Upgrade really helps to make sure you are getting rear arc shots.

This is a great idea, and I honestly want to but I don't have any inertial dampeners yet, but I will try engine upgrade as a varyation to this list

One more thing, the strait 2 is green for the firespray

but by the time they come at you, you are now flanked and your FS has take shots to its sides with no shots to make.

While that may happen if your playing a phantom, this is not likely because asteroids restrict movement to your lane (at least if you placed them right) and the firespray is not a slow ship so yea....

I like the opening, now you will want to get your asteroids with it. You could place it them so when you move up along an edge, when you do your Kturn, there will be an asteroid protecting your flank. I would also suggest these slight tweaks to your build.

Ndru + LW + Hull

x2 binayre + Hot shot

Engine on a Firespray will help adjust your arcs and let you move a lot faster. Just my 2 cents.

I can't see myself wanting to execute the move on the first round, though. More likely the second. But with some pre-game setup practice I think it'd be easy to figure out how to get them into the starting formation by 1-forwarding Kath and 2/3-turning the Z-95s.

I do intend on doing1forward (2 with the z's) the first round and then starting the move

I know Right! the cool thing is that it is so flexible/veristile, useful in most jousting situations, and anyone can adapt it to what they want.
