Here's the concept design that I posted over here.

Part of that paint scheme is probably impossible to paint. For instance, the struts that connect the pod to the solar panels are not that round and smooth.

Hmmmmmm you could 3d scan it and design custom decals.

As mentioned in the other thread about this...masterpiece, I picked up a TIE the other day and started on it yesterday. I don't have anything special besides citadel paints so no decals. As pointed out, the wing roots don't have the space for the checker pattern so only a little green on there is really all that's possible.

So far, I have 1 wing and the cockpit done. Doesn't look terrible to me. I'm no master painter but it would certainly pass for what it's supposed to represent and you know what it is. I do not have pics atm and don't know how to post any anyway but I'll have some eventually.

*edit*

iPhone pics are too big I guess. Not sure how to make them smaller. Sorry.

That is not a regulation paint job the flight deck officer has been notified.

I kinda like it.

They do have a lot of pits that could be filled in to make the struts smooth first.

Yes, some kind of conversion would probably be needed. Now I know I can paint this though it would probably be a pain in the behind. Sadly (or perhaps fortunately :D ) I don't have a spare, unpainted TIE Fighter (My three TIEs are already painted) to paint.

I couldn't resist.

So funny story actually. I had been wanting to do a repaint on my '90 just so that our play group didn't all have the same blessed one. Didn't want to do anything too fancy and hide the already high quality factory paintjob. So I searched around alternate color schemes online and found pics of CR-70's that had blue paint schemes. Thought okay yeah I'll do that. Then looking over it thought y'know, there's too many free hand lines, it's a little busy, a lot of extra work, I'll just do the recolor on the red to blue, color the engines, add some laser blaster damage. Had a little backstory in my head that it was an old ship used from before the beginning of the rebel alliance to harass the Empire. Can't tell you how far my jaw dropped when I saw my CR-90 fly across the screen in the S1 Finale. :o I recolored the red, and nuln oiled the areas that needed more definition, and colored in engine glow(not seen, dur :P ). I'll post a thread later with more pics. Want to get a bit of a setup for decent photos. FwMHL5B.jpg

Until being flashy gets you killed. That stands out like a sore thumb against the black of space.

It's a quote from the episode.

One stormtrooper goes "Hey, that's not regulation." and another goes "I kinda like it." ;)

I fully intend on revamping my CR-90 into this scheme:

I much prefer it's companion as it's distinct in its multicolored pattern.

Also hadn't noticed the extra guns until I posted the image.

Love the look of this. What color blue did you use?

Ok...it's done. If you know what it's supposed to represent, it's certainly passable.

I tried Flickr but since I'm doing it from a tablet, I couldn't see how to resize a pic anywhere. I even tried the Flickr app. When I tried copying a link, it just opened my album with all the info about the pic and me rather than just the pic.

But I do now possess a "masterpiece". After this, I concur, a decal set would have been a LOT sharper and clear, just no way for me to do it myself. My like 10 year old bottle of Citadel Sunburst Yellow is ok for a dot of yellow somewhere but not really on the small detail of the TIE panels in that pattern.

Anyone know if this thing has a name or is "Sabine's Masterpiece" good enough?

I think "Masterpiece" would be the appropriate name for a unique TIE/ln title card.

Just a real quick version to see how hard it would be.

I swear I've seen a link before, but where are these concept art pieces coming from?

Thanks.

Thanks.

starwars.com - Each episode of Rebels has its own little concept art gallery... LOTS of great reference.

Haha, thanks. Dang, that was really buried, wasn't it.

Yup... REALLY buried. :)
