marksmanship

Of I use marksmanship that would take my action for that turn right?

Of I use marksmanship that would take my action for that turn right?

correct - any upgrade that begins with Action: requires you to spend an action (or take a free action) in order to use it

Which is why a lot of people don't use it; it's essentially a super Focus you can only use for attacks, with the added benefit of 1) being good for the entire round and 2) doing one Crit.

Well I use it on ten numb

Well I use it on ten numb

It's more of a list-building issue than a rules issue, but now that Scum has arrived, Calculation achieves most of the same result for 2 points less (because you don't very often roll more than one focus result, and if you're Ten you only need one) and Mangler Cannon is 1 point more expensive but offers much better action efficiency (because you get a "free" crit without spending your action).

I guess it should be pointed out that an Experimental Interface can be used to activate it.

Still Marksmanship is an upgrade with a very small window of acceptable uses and that window gets smaller when Calculation and the Mangler Cannon enter the equation.

ok, sorry but this newbie is confused now; so when do you activate/use Marksmanship then??

You declare it as an action, like during your Perform Action step, and it triggers each time you attack during the current round. It works just like spending a focus token, but without the token. Which means if you have a ship with Gunner, you may trigger it for both attacks, thus increasing the possibility of inflicting damage via critical hits.

Marksmanship is activate with an Action.

Marksmanship is then automatically used any time you make an attack during that round.

In a crazy-crazy case you could see Marksmanship being used THREE time during a round. How? A ship with Gunner fires a Cluster Missiles: First Cluster attack uses Marksmanship. Second Cluster also uses Marksmanship. IF both of those attacks miss (fail to have uncancelled [boom] or [kaboom] results) the Gunner would trigger and that Primary weapon attack also uses Marksmanship.

Right now I believe Marksmanship only has two places to merit consideration when Calculation could be taken instead. The first is on a ship that uses Gunner/Luke and can gamble more on the first attack; this is barely a good use but is one to consider. The other is probably Corran as he could use it on his attack during the round and again on his EoR attack; the question here is are there better ways to spend those points.

Or a less crazy case with Marksmanship on Corran Horn with Cluster Missiles. :P

That'll cripple a shield-less Decimator pretty bad.

Edit: Except it doesn't, since E-Wing can't use Missiles...

But how does that happen? Perhaps my eyes deceive me but I see the E-Wing getting a torpedo slot and not a missile slot. Maybe the smiley is showing you know the truth but when presenting something is such a clear manner it is best to stay accurate.

On that note getting to take three 3 dice shots at a Decimator with all of them benefiting from Marksmanship and the last two likely benefitting from Target Locks (via FCS) would be pretty nasty. If at R1 that could even be 10 dice flying with a good chance that most will be [boom] and [kaboom] results.

Oh, um... my bad. Hehe.
