Ship tokens in Most Wanted

By Earthworm, in X-Wing

This is a really stupid question, but I'm sort of freaking out here. Did the Most Wanted set only come with three tokens for the two ship bases? I've got one with the two generics, one with Leeachos and the PS1 generic and one with Shulak and the PS3 generic. That sounds like...

a) FFG's weird packaging (Thinking of the odd combos in Imp Aces and the Rebel Transport X-wing, or the odd extra Y-wing dial in this one)

- or -

b) I've made a grievous error in appointing a 5 year old as "chief token puncher outer".

Which is it?

No, that sounds right. I would advise caution in delegating the token punching to a 5-year-old, though. :)

That's correct. I think (though I suppose I could be wrong) that you should have the same number of each pilot on various sides of tokens as you have Pilot Cards that match up to those.

So, since it came with 2x Binayre Pirate and 2x Black Sun Soldier pilot cards, you should expect 2 of each of those on tokens.

Most Wanted includes two Scum Y-Wing dials because it includes all the cards and base tokens needed to run two Y-Wings.

OK, the world has resumed spinning, everybody can return to their normal lives again, thanks.

I had figured it would be something like that. It's a little strange that they were so stingy with Headhunter stuff, given the extra Y-wing materials provided, and the number of rebel Z-95's already in circulation.

Since I pack each ship and its components into its own box, having uneven numbers of tokens is a little annoying.

That's really cool, but I feel like if you have a lot of ships to pull out/put away, it'd become a hassle

How did you make that box? That is AWESOME!

You'll find an excellent resource at templatemaker.nl, which can generate box templates of various types in any custom size. I then import those .svg's into GIMP, where I assemble the images. The dividers, counter holders and peg stands inside the boxes I just make by hand.

This system has several advantages:

-It's modular- I can easily pick and choose which ships to bring to a game night or tournament, and still have all the necessary pieces.

-Its easy- I can hand a couple boxes to a new player, and they're self explanatory enough for a newbie to put together.

-Geek Cred.

Yes, putting a tie swarm back into 8 boxes after playing is a little bit of a drag, but not really that much, and it's minimized the amount of other stuff I have to store- I've got number and TL tokens in each ship box, so all I have to store are focus, evade, stress, ion, and crit tokens in my go-box. (I'm even giving thought to making space in each box for the tokens that each ship might earn- a Focus and an Evade in an A-wing box, etc.

Awesome! Thank you!

The most wanted pack already comes with a ton of cardboard, you want them to add more?

Not really. The tokens and cards they included for the Z-95's match up perfectly for the number of ships in the box. You are able to run both unique pilots, or a pair of either non-unique. There is no reason they should have included anything beyond that for the Headhunters particularly when you consider the full contents and price point. A Most Wanted expansion has incredible value for what you get, especially if you have been playing for awhile and already own the other components that you can retro-fit into Scum.

They threw us a bone with the dial ruling already at the cost of losing out on a certain number of MW expansion sales. I'm delighted that I will only need to purchase 2 to fulfill almost every need I have for the Headhunters As I don't anticipate running swarms of 5-8 Z's.

The one and only disappointment I had was the illicit upgrades. I have a lot of Scum ships I still plan to purchase so maybe they will make up for only having a single Hot Shot Blaster and nothing else for illicits out of the MW box but again you get tremendous value so I really can't complain.

I understand that the Z-95 materials exactly match the number of models in the package. However, the amount of Y-Wing, materials go beyond what's in the set- (i.e. Two Y wing dials for one model, 3 ship tokens, including doubles of the generics), so that players can use an existing model they already own (Not to mention the HWK and Firespray materials).

Given the large number of Z's often used in lists, and the point of the Most Wanted set to quickly jump start S&V play, my observation was that the lack of Z materials was curiously inconsistent with the concept behind the rest of the box.

I got two sets of Most Wanted thinking I could run an 7-8Z swarm. The cards are there to support that but I didn't realize that there was only 3 ship tokens in each set until I opened the package. I have a third set sitting unopened...still undecided if I want it...

Or maybe the Z-95 and Y-wing materials provided are exactly equal, and then they gave you a BONUS ship model on top of that.
