just checking

small Ships can have more than one stress right?

if card effects from two different ships give the enemy ship stress and doesn't say if they are already stress then the can't receive a stress. So would a small ship hit by two effects get two stress ?

there is no limit to the number of stress any ship can have.

But you can only clear one stress at a time with a green maneuver. Each green maneuver only removes one stress - this is different from Ion tokens, too, just to clarify (ion tokens on small ships are removed all at once)

I think it was my Occuin build that had 8 stress when I rammed into Han for the win, lol.

My record is 48 stress on Tycho. Had to use d20's to keep track.

How were you getting all of that Stress?

Dauntless will not work if a ship has Stress when it is triggered. There are a few things that can give a ship stress but most of those are action based so you can't use them while Stressed or they actually have a Stress limit to use them. I know you could pick up a pile of Stress in a flurry of activity but getting 8 on a Decimator usually means your opponent has helped.

A small/large ship can have as many stress tokens as possible.

If the effect giving the stress for each ship is limited by there not being stress to be able to apply the token, then the ship's effects would be determined by PS or initiative order and the first one would apply the stress and the second ship would not, having been stopped by the first one (and I'm not familiar with any card effect that can be multiplied in this way with this stress restriction). If you listed the ships and cards in play at the time it may help.

If there is no limiter that cancels out the effect if a stress is already in play then stress gets piled on, a token for each stress inducing effect.

Ok, on the "just checking "... after the round is over and all tokens are removed, except Locked on targets and the next one begins, during this Action phase is it an "action" to leave the Target markers or can you put another token(evade/focus) on your ship?

You get to keep the Target Lock until you spend it, or aquire a Target Lock on a different ship.

You can still perform other actions as normal while you have a Target Lock.

If you didn't spend the target lock, you can just leave it on the ship you had locked. It doesn't cost you an action each round to have it there. So in the next round, you can indeed perform a focus or evade action and assign the appropriate token.

So basically it's like getting 2 for 1 if you don't spend your TL during that round??

Kind of, I suppose.

Another way to see it is that, for a single attack, having a Target Lock or a Focus Token will give you the same number of hits on average.

The advantage of the Focus Token is that you can use it for defence. The advantage of the Target Lock is that you get to keep it until next round (or later).

The target lock is only removed from the target if you spend it fire a missile or torpedo, or re-roll your attack dice, or perform a new target lock action to lock a different ship. Otherwise, you can leave a target lock in play as long as you like.

Some upgrades or abilities will allow you to acquire a target lock, which is different from performing the target lock action, but the same rules and processes still apply, but it is important to know there is a difference between acquiring or assigning tokens as opposed to performing the actions to get them.

Thanks for pointing that out, as a newbie - I would not have paid it much mind. I ASSIGN a TL during the ACTION PHASE, but I ACQUIRE a TL through upgrades or abilities. Got it.

Not necessarily. Take the Fire Control System card for example. It tells you that you may acquire a target lock after performing an attack. It doesn't say to perform a target lock action. The big difference is in the wording on the cards. If a card tells you to perform an action, that's different to assigning a token. During the Activation Phase, you could perform a Target Lock action (which also assigns the tokens), but outside of that, you can still perform a Target Lock action as a free action from an Upgrade. Read the cards carefully.
