Today I decided to bake some cookies. For Christmas, my Uncle sent some 100% organic Chilean mesquite bean flower. (I think organic is hogswash, but anyway ..) We had tried this stuff once with pumpkin pancakes but it had an awful aftertaste. We tried thinking of strong flavors that might mask the mesquite bean flavor so we could use it. I settled on peanut butter oatmeal cookies with a Hershey's Kiss in the middle. In the end, the mesquite flavor was so strong that it even overpowered the peanut butter flavor! I should have just stuck with normal wheat flour.
As I continued baking the rest of the batch, it made me think of X-Wing. Sometimes there are some neat-looking upgrades that you want to use. You start thinking of lists that highlight the chosen upgrade. You end up making a squad that you think is probably the best use of that upgrade -- and you're probably right. But as you step back, you realize that the mainstream lists that use the popular upgrades still outclass your list.
