88B and Boba

Full swarms have dropped off a bit. But squads like 4B, 4BZ, and panic attack style alike you to regen shield with a. So it still has a place in the big picture.

I've been flying mostly dual IG's lately, and Boba + IG before and really want to get Boba back. I love to have him with VI and Autoblaster cause it's so much fun to one-shot Soontir. And that leaves room for Tactician which is great when you don't reach into range 1. But I guess Gunner is more versatile for the same points. Have to try it.

Was actually also thinking about IG88C for the extra survivability. Would it be worth it? My thought is that Boba takes on the high AG dodgers and IG will get it's shot through anyways. In the end game that extra evade could prove quite valuable. What do you think of this?

Played in and won my first ever tournament yesterday. Used Boba and IG 88B. I like B better than C because of the extra attack. At range two or three, I would attack with primary, clear any defense tokens, and then attack with the HLC unmolested. Killed off twice Corran in successive rounds doing that. Only lost IG once all day, so he seems to stay alive well without needing to use IG88c. Boba gets in close, and IG stays out for HLC shots.

How did you equip Boba?

Boba had VI, EU, Dampeners, and Proton bomb. I had been running gunner with him, but I figured if he saw a swarm that his natural ability would act almost like a gunner, and a proton bomb should scare away corran.

Fought two corrans- one with wedge and Biggs, and one with donut dash. Against the xwings, fett dropped the bomb right in the middle of their squadron. Took out wedges pilot ability and corrans PS. Pretty much game over there.

Against corran/dash, I managed to pinch corran between my ships, and took him out in a single round of combat. After that, Bona just lived inside of range one of dash and it was over fairly quickly as well.

As for using primary first on IG88B, the goal is to clear tokens first volley. Four shots against at most two tokens has a good chance of sneaking one damage through, which is what I wanted to avoid. I took out the second Corran by rolling two hits (out of three) vs an evade token/focus token (he rolled blank, focus focus). And the second volley was three hits and a crit through target lock from fcs against naked die. If I shot the HLC first, chances are I get one damage through. You want the first salvo to get negated through tokens,so you bring less firepower.

So I now have:

Boba with VI, EU, ID and 5 Points left that could be either:

- Gunner

- Tactician + Ion Cannon

- Proton Bomb

together with

IG88B with AT, AS, Dampeners and either.
- Predator + Mangler + 1 p initative bid

- VI + HLC

I'm going to a Nationals, so I expect very good players with highly competetive lists, from 4B to PWT with Corran or Soontir and all kinds of control lists.

I like the arguments for the Proton Bomb, but I suck at bombs...

What do you think of Tactian + Ion Canon on Boba? Probably won't even get the canon through on Corran or Soontir, but if I could manage to give them Ion + Stress (or if they already have stress) it would be quite sweet.

I'm also not very good at blocking, so that would be an argument for VI on IG88.

But I like predator, because it's always on...

For Boba I would advise you to take Gunner but if you haven't played with him set up that way Tactician is probably the safer bet. Im not a fan of Proton bomb although it could one shot Corran so always deters people from chasing you. As for IG my favorite is Predator and Mangler but I had a hard time against dual VI 88's after I lost Fett.

The Ion cannon combo on Fett could be very good for the times that you aren't sure you will get a hit in and gets rid of the R3 bonus die. Probably the most effective against someone like Corran or whisper. I think that Soontir could token up against an ion shot unless you block him.

This is my next trial with Fett. I'm ditching B in favor of two Z's and Palob. Haven't had enough time to properly test it yet. I'm thinking everyone will dive into Fett which is great since he moves at ten and had an EU. That combined with glitterstim should keep him alive for quite a while while everyone else hammers away.

Ok guys, here it is. Boba and B has been reborn!

In this world of TLT madness this is the answer to all your problems. Boba gets rerolls and can take an evade and glitterstim in the same round. B gets autothrusters, has three green dice, autothrusters and can stim up when he really needs it. And don't forget sensor jammer, nothing makes you hate bumping and losing your action more.

That and it can hit like a truck!
