This should not be as cool as it is.....

The dark gritty reimagining of the Power Rangers.
Language and violence warning.

An unironic Michael Bay re-interpretation of the Power Rangers.

This will be our Swan Song.

Meh, I'm kinda really burned out on the grittyness. I really crave some optimism in my movies and series these days. Time for some new Star Trek.

The guns ruin it for me.
And the swordplay was just...terrible...
But it could be kinda neat, if done somewhat differently

Having no idea about power rangers I think a lot of it was lost on me.

Didn't they all join together to make a big robot or something?

Still, a fun 10 minutes.

dagonet I think that why gaudians of the galaxy did as good as it did, the lead starkiller was just all about wanting to be famous and heroic. the anti-hero thing is overplayed.

It's why Marvel is making all the superhero moviemoney while the DC movies and the non MCU movies (Spiderman, Fantastic Four) are not nearly as succesful.

DC is going gritty, gray, blue, boring and brooding. "Realistic".

Marvel gives you a racoon with a machinegun and a talking tree.

X-Men are also shifting more towards the unabashed shameless fun. Especially after X3.

The global crisis is over, let's see that in our movies as well.

I have always had a thing for dark and gritty stories. At least when done well. Was not a Nu BSG fan. My favourite shows growing up were UFO and Blakes 7 which were not exactly a barrel of laughs. I just liked the idea of something so non gritty suddenly becoming bleak. And it is true that they were teens forced to fight in a galactic war (in the original Japanese show they were not teens) Admittedly i hated Power rangers when it was on so it is also amusing to me from that pov.

I like them as well, if they turn out that way. But the current trend of turning everything dark and gritty, just to make it dark and gritty (I'm starting to hear Weird Al's White and Nerdy in my head now), that I'm seriously starting to dislike.

A movie like Automata, or Monsters, that's great. Dark Knight Rises or the latest Superman? Nah.

would have been cool if she was a cylon... oh wait  ...
