The Slingshot Maneuver
Nice write up man
Can't wait till our weekend tournament is over so I can start playing with these fun lists. (right now I'm just focus on practicing my list for tournament and trying to decide between a few)
I love proximity mines and am so eager to try out emon
That's just what I was thinking for using them
Like the idea of the ion cannon for the low ps ships
Will keep that in mind
I freaking love proximity mines
Edited by Krynn007It is a nice trick.
For expensive, but nice shenanigans, load him up, something like this for instance should give your opponent headaches:
Nice write up, and glad you had a fun time.
I was tempted to run Emon yesterday, but I wussed out and ran Boba/Kath instead (I've never tried bombs, so I felt like diving right in with Emon at the Store Championship would've been a little crazy).
with B-wing swarms still kind of a thing, I'd be tempted to try to fit at least a couple of proton bombs in there
with only 3 Hull, protons are lethal against massed ranks of B-Wings
Interesting. I'm going to have to try it out.

I have edited the original post to include all of the areas that emon can hit with a proton bomb. Dropping them effectively, especially against b-wings, takes some setting up. Because if you look at the picture, if a b-wing is touching the front of the base, he will be out of proton bomb range. And given how bad b-wings are against large based ships, they will often hit the firespray rather than eat the proton bomb.with B-wing swarms still kind of a thing, I'd be tempted to try to fit at least a couple of proton bombs in there

You're right of course - a different approach is probably required for dropping protons on B's
perhaps mid to high PS Y-wings with genius and EU / EH are going to give you the best suite of options - a little pricey though perhaps
You know the more I look at the OP's list the more I like it.
I've quickly fallen in love with Kath loaded out with PTL, K4 and EU, so everything about this build seemed counter-intutive at first, but the more I think about it the more it grows on me.
It's got a great balance between attack and defense, speed and mobility - great damage and control potential - wide arc coverage - and some killer tricks up its sleeve
The only thing I'm unsure about is the 100 points - ideally I'd want it at 99 so I'd at least have a chance of bidding to move Emon last against other PS6 ships - as in dual aggressor builds.
it would be a shame to drop the inertial dampners to shave the point, but I'm not sure where else you could find them - cheaper crew perhaps?
Edited by FunkletonIf I move first, I can still pull off the slingshot if I can get a range 3 first engagement. If they move first, they will be in a spot where i can still hit them with the mine. The slingshot is just if they are at range 3. Emon has a multitude of options if my opponent is at range 1 or 2.
And yes, I did like the list. My games were all fun and very close.
By the way, what's the ruling on the maneuver template overlapping asteroids when dropping a bomb?
I've been looking through the Rules, the FAQ, and the rules cards and I can't see any mention of how you treat obstacles when dropping bombs - I assume that means you can ignore them.
The template doesn't matter, when it comes to overlapping an obstacle. The template is just what is used to deploy it. I believe the ruling for ships is you place the token under the ships. But since a prox mine can immediately detonate, if you hit a ship with it, you may just roll it once you have chosen which ship it hits.
Well, I played 2 games tonight with this list:
Bomb Shenanigans
Emon with Prox X3, RecSpec, EI, Andrasta (51)
Syndicate Thug with Genius, Proton Bomb, Autoblaster turret, Bomb loadout (25)
Syndicate Thug with Unhinged Astromech, Autoblaster turret, bomb loadout, Prox mine (24)
I won both games; the first game easily, the second game came down to Emon with 1 hull left. Thoughts:
1. I liked EI on Emon with Recspec. I mean, yes, I can see that you only get to use Ei 3 times, but that means you're not stressing yourself the rest of the game. Usually I could pull off a slingshot, then do some green moves across the board, and by the time I got the bombs off, I was ready to take white maneuvers instead, so I didn't want the stress anyway. So I was okay with EI/recspec, because it allowed me to stay alive long enough to get all 3 bombs off.
2. Hate flying non-repositioning firesprays. They are just so slow and get trapped in a corner more easily without being able to boost or barrel roll away. That is going to take some getting used to again.
3. My Suicide Bomber Genius Y-wing (Achmed), was awesome for me in each game, getting crits on multiple opposing ships each game.
4. Autoblaster turret is fantastic on the Y-wings. Highly recommended.
5. Unhinged Astromech was also a champ, especially combined with the prox mine and the AB turret. Clutch shots out of that one, and another bomb threat with a green 3 turn and drop.
So, all in all, I was happy with the squad. I'm not sure I would change anything, because the shenanigans were just so much fun!
I tried the link and i was able to read the text but was not able to see any of the images. are they available elsewhere?
