Some random questions about Shadow of Nerekhall

By Sagro, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi there,

me and our friends started to play Descent some months ago and it's great to see such an active community. By the way i have a couple of questions related to SoN that would like to discuss to you. I've already searched the forum and the latest FAQs (1.5) but this is not yet clear. So here we are:

  • Conjurer: does the conjurer need LoS to place image in map? ex: can they spawn behind monsters that block movement and LoS?
  • Bard + Conjurer : Does the Bard Skills affect the attack of the conjurer throught an image? ex: the image is range for Bard Skills that gives +1 damage but the hero miniature isn't. Does the image receive the buff when attacking?
  • Shadow Hunter: Dies his heroic skills ( remove the miniature from map and place it 4 spaces away ) work throught blocked doors or throught monsters. Does it need Los?
  • Overlord Card: Does the overlord card that makes an hero attack himself when get resurrected ( i don't know the english translation of the card sorry :D should be out of shadows i suppose ) work on skirmisher heroic skill. Does it work when an hero resurrect himself or just when someone else resurrect an ally?

Thanks for your help :)

1.) The conjurer doesn't need LoS to place an image on the map, he just needs adjacent spaces. So you can place your image behind a monster, but not through doors or other map obstacles (it still works through portcoullis or elevation lines though).

2.) The mirror image doesn't really attack. The hero is attacking through the image token (the hero attacks, but range and LoS is measured from the image). So no, your hero needs to be in range of the bard's skill to get the +1 damage for his attacks (which still is applied when attacking through an image out of the bard's range).

3.) Like the image from the conjurer, you only need adjacent spaces (like in any instance when you place something X spaces away). This means you don't need LoS, but you can't count spaces through a door or other obstacles that break adjacency (it still works through portcoullis or elevation lines though).

4.)Sorry I don't know this OL card

Have fun playing SoN, imo it's the best campaign for this game so far.

I believe Out of Darkness specifically states that, when a hero is revived, you may perform an attack with them. Since the rules always refer to a hero standing him/herself up as "standing up" and not "reviving", I believe this card can only be used when a hero revives a different hero.

Thank you both, DAMaz and Nerdynoob, for the precious infos, helped me a lot :)
Yes, i used the term "reviving" is an uncorrect way, i was referring to "standing up" as you pointed out.
