Unique models for unique ships?

By Eyeless1, in Star Wars: Armada

So the ISD thread made me think of this question.

So the MC-80 has two(at least) different variants. The classic "Liberty" and the "Home One" variants.

Do you think they will make two different models for these ships? Or would they only make one model and just include different title cards? Or perhaps a repaint?

On the imperial side, are there any special ISDs that have a slightly different design where they could end up making two different models like the MC80s? Or would they do repaints and a different kit like they did with the different Aces packs for X wing?

And on a side note, i kinda hope the make the Arc Hammer.

I actually like this idea because you can't put a regular Mon Cal next to a model of Home one and say that they are the same ship because there are notable differences between the two so I do believe they'll make two model with Home One coming out first probably around the time the ISD is announced.

As for the imperial side they might make two models but since the ISD 2 is more well know to the general public I think that they'll probably make that with parts from a ISD 1. Or they might do what the producers of Star Wars Rebels did and give it the hull, bridge, and engine of a ISD 2 and give it the communication tower of a ISD 1 which I would personally prefer.

As for a Arc Hammer they would probably make it an objective piece for the rebels to destroy and the Imperials to protect and we would get General Mohc as a commander.

It's been a long time since I read the novels, but wasn't there a fleet of red star destroyers in the EU? That could be a variant?

Yes there was a fleet of Red Victory Class Star Destroyers. How ever they are commanded by a Warlord and didn't technically service the empire, just one of it's many post Endor warlord factions.

Ah that is right thanks for the refresher!

Yes there was a fleet of Red Victory Class Star Destroyers. How ever they are commanded by a Warlord who killed the at the time Emperor Sate Pestage so even though they were imperial ships they didn't work for the empire, they did work for a Warlord faction.

Sorry about the little confusion got confused between Warlord Zsign and the Prince-Admiral since they both hated the empire and were killed in a very similar fashion.

Home one wasn't unique. Re watch the Endor scene right before the a wing crashes into the bridge. You can see like 4 home one variants.

They might not unique ships for the Empire but I can see a couple of different models for MC ships, as they were usually a lot more bespoke in the EU. maybe instead of other ships where they have an a/b or 1/2 class, they'll have different models for the MC80 Liberty and MC80 Home One?

I want the Sundered Heart. The cool one, not the stupid retcon :P

I could see a lot of unique models for the large ships if they sell well enough.

I would buy them all for sure!!

We didn't even get a unique model for Royal Guard Interceptors in X-Wing, just a new paint job. There's no way they're going to do a bunch of unique models for Armada.

Here's hoping that we fans can all leverage our marketing skills to draw in a ton of new players. If the game (in general) sells like mad, the likelihood of seeing these iconic ships increases.

Indeed, I hope this game will become as popular as X-Wing.

I don't think they're going to put out unique models, certainly not for differences as minor as the ISD-I and ISD-II.

I don't think they'll do a Tector . I imagine the Tector was a filming mistake 'plastered' over with lore, not actually an intended class of destroyer. Maybe they'll do a card, though, with a lower squadron stat for a points discount.

Well I have a feeling this game is going to do very well. But that said, we will see variants that are relevant before we see ships that mimic previous releases. Going to bet on the MC80 Liberty Style first. I hope to see an MC80B Mon Remonda. Home One style cruiser may also get its own model, but we would have to wait and see if they justify it having its own statistics. There are so many ships to choose from I hope they get to majority of them before they stop production. Doubt we will see simple repaints though.

Ah the glorious Interdictor. A favorate of mine to troll the Rebels.

"Sorry, weak(ened) Rebel fleet, there is no escape for you."

Not that the Rebels didnt have the CC-7700, but it could be a mess if one side fields a GW ship and the other does not.

I wonder how the gravity well would actually work in the game though or if it would just be ignored.
