New Character help

By theclash24, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

so I'm new to the game and I'd like to make a character but I'd like it to evolve but evolve within the spectrum of the concept without having to waste xp which equals real time. Don't get me wrong -- I like to conceive a concept first and than use xp to flesh it out.

So here is the idea: EOTE, female, human. She will be young and force sensitive. I want to take either the force exile from EOTE or AOR just as a starting base. She won't know she is and whatever profession I start with will be her true self and she believes that anything force/super natural that happens is just her true skill or talent and will think nothing of it. Basically in denial.

Eventually I'd like her to find out her force powers and become trained to be a dark/gray JEDI or Sith which ever happens. And eventually make her LIGHTSABER etc etc. but initially I need a base profession to start with-- here is the problem. I don't have the FAD book and im waiting on its release to get NOT the beta. So I'd like to go with what I know-- either a straight up melee class and go with marauder and assume FAD has a melee heavy tree for LATER purchase. OR a consular type profession to match a force heavy later purchase.

So maybe you guys have some ideas of how to start and later evolve into the appropriate profession that will later evolve into the FAD tree without losing the concept and or lose the xp and have to go a totally different direction. Skills that don't synergize etc.

It makes perfect sense to start with a career in EotE or AoR and then add specializations from FaD when you’re ready. But one thing to keep in mind is that you only get the starting Force Rank if you take an FaD career, or the Universal Force-Sensitive Exile (EotE) or Force-Sensitive Emergent (AoR).

So, if your true career is going to be EotE or AoR, that’s where you want to start. But then you have to take the appropriate FSE Universal Specialization, before you can go into the FaD specializations.

If you start in FaD, then you get a Force Rank with your FaD career.

To be honest, I think that Luke was probably a Fringer before he found out that he was force-sensitive. Leia was clearly a Politico before she found out that she was force-sensitive.

But we don’t know for sure about Obiwan’s childhood. My guess is that he probably went straight into an FaD career.

Also keep in mind that whatever you choose as your career, that’s where your Signature Abilities come from. And you only ever have one career, no matter how many additional specializations you might pick up. So, you might want to work backwards from your concept of where the character might ultimately wind up, and then try to figure out how to best set that up.

Interesting take on that-- so the real root is...is need the FAD book and work backwards >.<

You could get a copy of the beta. Odds are that the majority of stuff from the beta probably won’t change in the FaD CRB.

Other considerations are what kind of campaign you GM is running. If your fighting the Empire tooth and nail in battle scenes, i would sugest AOR as the starting point. If the campaign starts with a lot of smuggling and running stuff for the Hutts, then i would choose a starting point in EotE

Fireflyesk so most likely EOTE style.

I may spring for the beta book than. :)

I'd buy two stats to 3 then spend the rest on getting force exile and sense as it got the biggest bad for your xp and is the easiest to dismiss as a hunch.
