A number of people have asked me about my Destiny Point Board that was in the background of a picture of my homemade Starship Combat Hexes:

Here is a closer view and below is how I put it all together. Enjoy:

OK, so this is my list of stuff I used:

• 1 Inch Hole Punch
• 1 inch Magnetic Markers
• Full page labels
• Small Whiteboard (with the ability to use magnets on it).

The Force Point tray is actually a magnetic whiteboard. I printed the image used as the background on two sheets of full page labels and stuck them onto the board. I then created my own 1 inch token size stickers which I printed out on the same 1 page label sheets, then cut them out with the 1 inch craft punch. I then applied them to 10 1 inch magnetic markers.

When I first saw this post, I thought you said “one inch Magic Markers” and I was trying to figure out for the life of me how the size of a magic marker makes a difference in this process. Then I was trying to figure out where the magic markers were used in this process because it looked to me like everything had been printed off a laser printer or something along those lines.

It wasn’t until I visited the link that I understood that these were MAGNETIC one-inch disks that were white in color, and called “markers”.

Are the destiny points double sided? and where did you get the magnetic markers? Are they the alea ones?

The Destiny points are indeed double sided. Yes they are the Alea Tools Markers AND on this board they work no matter which side they are on.

Which means the board isn't magnetic, but is made of a ferrous element, like an iron or steel plate inside of it

IMO, the term “magnetic whiteboard” is typically found in a description of a white board on which magnets can be used.

Not “correct” in the pedantic sense of the word “magnetic” when applied to the term “whiteboard”, but semantically correct in describing the overall nature of the whiteboard and how it is commonly used.

And what is your point? I didn't ask the poster to change his description, just letting him know why the magnets work regardless of which side is facing the board.
