nechromus - painted and pimped gameplay

By nechromus, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

If you need further motivation for painting your minis. Take a look at the pictures from our last session. I am still stunned by how well the transparent bases for the miniatures work (the idea of a friend of mine who also implemented it and painted the main bulk to our minis so far).

The boxes, the terminal and other elements were bought in our local wargaming store and we use them instead of most of the markers that come with the game.

Oh, man, I really need to get some 3D crates to replace the tokens at least. Maybe the computer terminals too. (And just maybe for the blocking terrain, even.) Did you mark the undersides of them for the missions where that matters?

What brand are the boxes, terminals, etc?

I am not sure about the brand as my friend had picked them from the bit box in our store. For the mission relevant terminals we have other pieces that are not painted yet. Those I will have colored accordingly.

AWESOME!!! WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE WONDERFUL TOYS?!?!!? (Both the transparent bases and the crates and barrels and whatnots).

3D terrain question: When you have a Mobile or Massive figure move onto a 3D token like this, how do you deal with that? I assume with single square models like the probe droid, you are able to place it on the token, but what about for bigger things like the Nexu and AT-ST?

Base question: How do you put the At-ST on a clear base since it's feet are molded to the base?

I know what mission this is. I feel sorry for those rebels.

Litko ( http://www.litko.net/categories/Miniature-Bases-%26-Bottoms/Clear-Acrylic-Bases/ ) has the round clear bases. You'd probably have to get the Eweb and Atst custom cut or fudge it a little with the closest round equivalents.

I'd like to see what the OPs buddy comes up with.

There are a bunch of options for the crates and terrain.

The terminals above seem to be from microart studios as well. I'm sure we'll see some IA specific stuff pop up from one of the smaller casters soon.

Even as the IP I feel a bit sorry for Gaarkhan in that last picture...

So could you please ask where your friend bought those boxes? The ones on microart seem te be painted even though the description says they are unpainted, can anyone confirm? I would definitely prefer unpainted objects that I cant paint myself.

The microart stuff definitely IS unpainted resin.
