One thing that I'll do is place certain things that I need in an unusual place, so that when I go to use them it reminds me why I put them there.

For example, take Ysanne's evade token. Bring a small box or a cup or something. Then, whenever you're done with combat, put your dice in the box with an evade token on top of them. That way you won't be able to start combat the next round until you've reminded yourself to do Ysanne's action. For Rebel Captive, you could do the same thing with your maneuver dials.
