Why are BTL Y-Wings being referred to as Warthogs? I've been up and down Wookiepedia and I can't find any mention of it besides some Clone Trooper's nickname.
Warthogs?
I'd assume they refer to A-10s?
I dunno. Kinda been wondering that myself. The name caught on extremely fast

That, and also similar to the A-10 compared to other, sleeker fighters, they are slow but can take a lot of damage.
Yeah its an A-10 reference. Tough, mean, and ugly. I might have started the trend (can't remember for sure) so feel free to blame me if you don't like the name. :-)
Edit: the term was coined by KineticOperator!
The Scum version with R4 Agromech is pretty terrifying.
Edited by MajorJugglerThe name Agromech is also pretty appropriate.

I don't know if I'd describe them as mean now, but once the Raider is out, people will probably start loading them up with torpedoes. Then they will be nasty.

Agro as in agriculture, not as in aggressive.

I think I might like them better with the Unhinged Astromechs. They're a little less accurate but they end up with one of the best dials in the game and have no problem ditching stress,.
Oh man. Torps not even needed. Btl-A4 title with an ion cannon turret and the R4 Agromech is mean. It puts 3 dice ships DPS to shame and is knocking on the door of Phantom or TIE Advanced + ATC DPS.
Edited by MajorJugglerYs are NOT ugly enough to be called warthogs....
I think A-10s look cool.....

It's a cool kind of ugly, like a pug.

Me too. I'm close to an AF base and we sometimes get them flying low over campus (also, B2s)

I also have a pig. They are just plain ugly. And freakin' dumb

I will probably go with Drea, he is well priced and his ability allows for very high Damage output. Just that at PS5 he still is Doontir and Phantom fodder!
My favorite build with him so far. Also works at 29 points with Autoblaster turret.
Drea Renthal — Y-Wing 22
Ion Cannon Turret 5
Unhinged Astromech 1
Engine Upgrade 4
BTL-A4 Y-Wing 0
Edited by ForceMI call them wartywings.
I keep thinking of them as sandwiches or Y-wiches...
But then my brain's weird.
Torps not required. They are already a holy terror. Just fly 2 of them against a decimator sometime to see the nonsense.

Funny enough, my last game was against a couple Warthogs, and someone brought a pug.

Joking? I hope so, but can't tell. Agro is a shorthand obviously referring to aggressive behavior, they would be "agrimechs" otherwise.
R4 units are astromechs and have nothing to do with agriculture. They were designed as a cheap, durable, "every-man's" astromech. Also their in-game rules support an aggressive, efficient, high damage output attack, and they are nestled snuggly in starfighters--not moisture vaporators or space tractors.

It is indeed "agro" for agriculture. They had to be adapted for use in starfighters, which is possibly why they appear in the Scum faction rather than Rebels.
Beetles would have been fitting, given the title.
It would indeed be very frightening if there was any pilot with good pilot skill and an elite skill. Salm has the one and renthal has the other.Yeah its an A-10 reference. Tough, mean, and ugly. Drea is actually a female, her and Lando were an item (she helped him out of a Jam with Boba Fett at least once I recall) I think it was mentioned in the Han Solo trilogy(maybe book 2 of it)
I was the one who first coined the term "Warthog" for the BTL-A4s. It shouldn't be a big deal, but for some reason I am especially happy that the name caught on. It caught on so fast it was easy to lose track of where it started, and who knows others might have been using it elsewhere already because it was such an apt name.
During playtesting, we noticed how very similar they were to the A-10. Both have twin engines, both are rather "slow" compared to superiority fighters, both are heavily armored, and both are absolutely positively lethal if you make the mistake of getting in front of them. If you imagine wings sticking out the side of a Y-Wing hull they even look somewhat similar. The forward firepower coming from a Warthog (of either variety) is devastating, and the fact that the Y-Wing can also carry bombs and/or operate as a strike fighter completed the analogy. I'm pretty sure it caught on so well because it fits so well.
Here is the original thread/post where I mentioned it on here for the first time.

I will be sure to properly credit you in the future!

Well then. I'll just go ahead and insert my foot into my mouth...
Ew.
