Endless trooper swarm

With the last two previews I'm seeing potential for near endless swarms of troopers, particularly on the Imperial side with Weiss.

With the Weiss pack we saw Endless Reserves: Action: Choose a defeated friendly Trooper and place it in an empty space adjacent to another figure in its group. Then, shuffle this card back into you command deck.

And now with the Rebel Trooper pack we have Reinforcements: Use at the start of a round. Choose 1 of your defeated Troopers that has a reinforcement cost of 3 or less. Place that figure adjacent to any other figure of its group.

You can have 2 Reinforcements for 4 points plus the 2 points for Endless Reserves, which is a fair chunk of your command card budget, but the potential for keeping points on the board is awesome.

Weiss plus 4 Stormtroopers could be a popular list for attritional wins.

The only problem there is that, if Weiss goes down, your squad is dead in the water. It will be a matter of racing to gather objectives and score enough kills to reach 40 VP before Weiss dies. 15 health and double-black defense dice is pretty solid, but focused fire from a couple of solid attackers will bring him down.

If he had Blast 2 vs Blast 3 I would really like the build that double surge just seems like it is really unlikely. Yes you could go with dice that give a lot of surges but then still need the damage to get through and still need to battle with the white dice or Han.

I do think it will be a lot of fun to play either way.

I do not think it is a co-incidence that cards like Grenadier and Explosive Weaponry come out with said cards.

I do not foresee the list you propose being a much of a problem for the existing Vader list, let alone any future lists. Force Lightning is a real issue for Trooper spam, among many other things =). But If they do become and issue, the cards I just presented will be played heavily to counter it. Not to mention Gaarkhan, Saboteurs, Weiss, etc. etc.

Honestly, the trick is getting a few to 1 health, and then just blast/cleaving them to death. Because of sheer number of models they typically bunch up (and if they don't you can just pick them off one by one...) which makes them prime targets for the undefended aoes.

That all being said, I do think the new cards will see a good amount of play, especially with the Elite troopers, to make their abilities/defense dice even more annoying.
