I notice the newer releases of the EotE core rulebook doesn't have the "Read This First" pamphlet. FFG has now incorporated it into the first chapter of the core rulebook.

Anybody else notice this? I'm kind of curious why it was done like that in the first place. Any guesses?

Nice little collectors item now.. I guess I should no longer let my new players put their grubby hands on it..

I think it was done in the first place so a guy could show his friends who don't play RPGs the pamphlet instead of the core rulebook and scaring them away... The good old bait'n'switch.

Probably just printing timeline eventuality. Maybe they got the idea to do a "read this first" from the Beginner Game or something, and wanted to include it in the Core Rulebook, but by that time it was already at the printers.

That's my guess anyway.

Printing as two pieces and then packaging them together has to be more expensive. Beyond that, it can create problems for stores when the booklet falls out and the hardcover is no longer a "complete product" without it.
