Today I have tested this:

- Prince Xizor: Virago, Advanced Sensors, Autothrusters, Veteran Insticts

- Mandalorian Mercenary: Draw Their Fire

- Black Sun Soldier

- Black Sun Soldier

Played against:

- Chewbacca: Veteran Instincts, Weapons Engineer, Recon Specialist

- B-Wing Blue Squadron

- Itbisam

First exchange of shots I managed to Block Itbisam and Chewbacca with my ships, While getting Xizor at range 3 with focus. Thanks to draw their fire, focus and autothrusters Xizor didn´t was impacted and Itbisam and the Blue Squadron were left with no shields.

Next Turn I blocked chewbacca with one of the z-95, letting him with now actions and ended over a rock, so no chance to fire. The two b-wings moved too long and did´nt manage to fire, so I concentrated fire of 3 of my ships over chewie, who ended the turn without shields and two damages in hull.

After a pair of turns of blocking chewiee and going out of arcs with xizor, All the enemy fleet destroyed, with the Mandalorian mercenaries with only one shield lost, Xizor Intact and the 2 z-95´s with only one hull left and alive.

I am pretty happy with Xizor and this build, I tested last week with Push The Limit, but the ship hasn´t enough green maneuvers and suffered against high PS ships, so much better with veteran Insticts to move last. The pair of black sun soldiers are wonderful for blocking, and the Mandalorian mercenay worth every point of value.

Sounds like a fun squad, though, TC. Mandalorian Mercs are the MVP generic of S&V.

The rebel squad you faced was not very well constructed. It's hard to say whether a list is great or not because it depends on the skill of your opponent and how well their list is constructed.

Using the same ships as your opponent, I would've ran this.

My plan is to fly tight formation with Xizor at the back or centre and pass damage from Xizor to the pirates. In theory the Body Guard effect from Guri will also mean Xizor will be rolling an extra defense die every attack making him harder to damage throughout the course of the battle.

Midgame i can break off into two groups and either keep Guri guarding Xizor or let her go out on her own then regroup late game with Xizor.

you shouldn't run run Guri bodyguard for Xizor

Xizor's already not going to be shot at between thrusters and his ability, so you might as well save the 2 points and Guri's focus for something useful (imo remove DTF, which is probably a disaster in the making on a 1 shield, 4 hull ship, and give the poor girl Predator)

Now, if you want to run Palob instead (Blaster, Recon, Moldy, Bodyguard for 32) it's not as much of a waste, but Xizor's still more than likely never getting shot until he's alone. Really, that's the strength of his ability.

Btw, when you do DTF, do you see the crit first or do you have to choose to draw it away before you know what it is?

Also, i LOVE that idea of Mando with DTF. I'd try and be a little more cost effective and take Recon spec on the Mando. drop the Zs to 12pts and take FCS instead of Advsen?

You transfer the crit result, before taking the card. Then if I take the critical from another ship and I have shields, I loose only one shield (That´s the reason for Mandalorian with DTF, they have 4 shields.

Between FCS and Advanced Sensors, I prefer Advanced Sensors, I can Make Impulse or barrel roll before moving, and with PS9, the ship is far more unpredictable. Also, with Advanced Sensors, I can make a Focus Action making red movements, or even if I see I am going to be blocked by other ship.

FCS is good for low PS jousting ships, for example, a pair of bwings you are going to move 1-1-1 etc, so after the first turn you are probably like to fire with Target Lock and Focus, but for high PS ships with good mobility, Advanced sensors always.

Hmm. I just like the sheer raw damage output of the TL. Though I will be ready to admit it's very easy for advsen to be a better deal.

Only one time, DTF allowed me to avoid the last damage on one of the Z-95, by that time my formation was aplited, the mandalorian merc flanked by the z´s, and Xizor atacking from one side.

But for one point, I think it worth it, maybe in another game I will use it more

I think you;ll find there are better uses for 1 pt....

I think I'd run Predator on the Mando. Heck, I'd certainly try that squad.
