Scum Faction and Maneuver Dials

By Scizzler, in X-Wing

Does anyone know if you have to use the specific scum faction dials with scum pilots for competitive play?

Hypothetical: You own 2 firesprays and buy 1 copy of most wanted. You build a Boba/Kath list but only have one scum firespray dial. Can you use an Imperial firespray dial with your scum list? I would tend to think at an FFG sanctioned event it would be the equivalent of proxying for cards you do not have.

What are your thoughts?

You can use any faction dial as long as it belongs to the correct ship. Also the ship token (cardboard base) and ship card must be the correct faction.

So yes, in your example you could use an Imperial Firespray dial alongside your Scum Firespray dial as long as the other components were correct faction

As long as you arent in a tournament sanctioned by FFG, they have already said you have to have the correct components. So if you play a scum dual firespray list.. have 2 scum dials.. borrow one from a friend if you have too...

If its a game with just some friends... have at, as long as no one complains..

They've actually said the opposite. Check the most recent tournament rules (version 2.2.3) where they specifically allow using dials from any faction as long as the base token and ship card are the correct ones.

From FAQ 2.2.3 Dated 2/27/2015 (current version)

Multiple Faction Ships

All pilot cards and ship tokens in a player’s squad must belong to the same faction. If a player’s ship has different versions in more than one faction, he or she may use any version of that ship’s model and dial in his or her squad.

Multiple Ship Example: Scott is fielding a Scum & Villainy squad consisting of four Z-95 Headhunters and one Firespray. His Firespray model and dial are from the Imperial Firespray expansion, two of his Z-95 Headhunter models and dials are from the Rebel Z-95 expansion, and the final two of his Z-95 Headhunter models and dials are from the Scum & Villainy Most Wanted expansion. However, all of his pilot cards and ship tokens are from the Scum & Villainy faction.

Yeah, this changed per the FAQ quoted above.

This was covered in several threads already.

As long as you have the base and the card you can use whatever dial matches the ship.
