Any good meta Scum builds yet?

So, that's why Double IG-2000s is such a powerful build. You can throw away the first shot, burn up C-3PO or evade tokens, and then have the second shot do damage for real.

Just as a note, a seasoned player doesn't spend a token if it is the difference between spending and activating gunner -- they take the lone hit. I'd think the same is true of 3PO. If 3P0 were the difference between taking a hit and canceling an extra, I'd avoid using 3PO and just take the result. Then 3P0 is still available for the next attack if I do roll well enough.

Agreed. The only time this really happens is if there is only one or two HP left on a ship or if it's something like Soontir with a Stealth Device and numerous tokens, where it's worth spending a token to try and save your Stealth Device. Generally it's insurance against terrible luck firing on low AGI ships, and insurance against mediocre luck when firing on high AGI ships. The strength of IG88-B is that it can be lent to another IG88. Otherwise, a ship might just take the hit and use its tokens for another attack that doesn't have gunner. No net gain in that case. I'm not saying a Gunner isn't great, but it has its strengths and weaknesses.

Exactly. I think Gunner in general and IG88B specifically is going to be very good in the current meta for several reasons, but I wanted to point out the issue that the scenario above wasn't always going to work.

You need to activate C3PO before you roll. So Gunner isn't going to make that much of a difference of when you use him on a Falcon, unless only a single damage is rolled. If the Falcon has an evade token as well, I'd guess C3PO usage would go like this:

1 hit - No C3P0, No token

2 hits - No C3PO, use token if no evade is rolled

3+ hits - C3PO guesses 0, spend token

If the Falcon doesn't have an evade token C3PO usage will probably look like this:

1 hit - No C3PO

2 hits - C3PO guesses 0

3+ - C3PO can guess zero or one depending on how badly you need to block two damage.

At the last store championship I saw dual aggressors do well, but I also saw the following list win every swiss round, and only failed against a super dash/Keyan list in the finals.

Black Sun Enforcer (Starviper) x3

Torkil Mux (HWK)+Ion Cannon Turret

Total=99 pts

Flying that in formation, it wrecked a phantom/defender list, Krassis and two autothruster RGPs, and the Dual IG-88 build.

It definitely made me rethink the place of unnamed Starvipers as far as their usefulness goes. 25 pts is pretty efficient for the durability of a Hwk paired with its natural 3 green dice.

Well, double warthog Y-wing + V.I Boba was a wash. Sad :(

Moving onto testing scum HWKs. I've left them untouched for far too long...

Mux is hitting the table first

between the blaster/moldy/recon outfit, Guri with predator & thrusters, and 3 sh*tty pirates, I'm hoping for something effective. Still working on Palob, but I believe he might be the only pilot to get me to put Seriussu on the table since he's about the only one that could justifiably be a higher priority target (not to mention his ability provides indirect protection ala removing offensive focus modifiers) .

So far, of the things I've played I've only found Xizor w/four bugzappers to it's direct, absolute hard counter, double Aggressors, to be very much competitive (though I have played against super Kath --> PTL, K4, EU <-- and let me tell you, **** is scary. LW N'dru is also not fun to have to fight :()

Oh, and ADV torpedo Guri is just silly. Those five hits always look scary, but she becomes so comically expensive that you can justify bum-rushing her. I threw two Deltas into her tonight and was quite happy trading one of them for her.

Palob is great. Four dice turret shooting, while negating opponent defense, is nasty. Boba is also impressive just cruising around and focusing. I'm filling out the fleet with 2 Cartel Spacers for cheap survivable blocking.

how does palob get 4d? do you mean kavil with blaster turret?

Opportunist. Rarely a useful ability, but seeing how Palob can all but guarantee that his target won't have a focus or evade, it looks like a nice EPT on him.

I'm really digging the idea of disposable z-95s, one variant being binayre pirates with dead man's switches and possibly assault missiles as well, but what I'd do with the missiles is get the pirate close enough so they are within the blast radius and take damage to get them closer to exploding. Or feedback arrays on them. I'd like to try a kamikaze with dead man's switches on an epic scale ship.

I've had a bit of fun with the HWKs as well, I honestly feel that scum's hawks can be outfitted to be much more offensive than rebel ones. Dace is only worth taking an ion cannon on, and I used him in a triple 9 list alongside Kavil and Xizor (all with VI obviously). I threw greedo on him since if I was attacking with his ion cannon once every round I'd get a crit with the one damage I'd deal with it, followed up by an additional damage from his ability. Palob has the potential to pool a lot of focus if you take moldy crow on him, and when I used him I gave him calculation, blaster turret, moldy crow, and outlaw tech. I made lots of red maneuvers with him followed by greens next turn so I could focus as much as possible, and my intent was to use any extra focus to give his shots a crit. It was pretty effective.

Starvipers with Virago titles should take advanced sensors, being able to barrel roll or boost before an s-loop is invaluable.

not to nitpick, but Z's with +6 points of upgrades are hardly disposable :P Deadman's by itself does put a very interesting spin on the game, though

Feedback array is the **** though, would never not recommend it

Syndicate Thug w/Ion, R4 and BTL is insane.

I'm a believer now. I played this x4 in an SC (18 players) yesterday and won.

I'm a scum addict. I think they are a great addition do this game. Their first wave is excellent with lots of possibilities, not just one obvious choice.

I have enjoyed kiting with Palob and expert handling.

Tried Kavil with predator, unhinged, and blaster. Cost 2pts more than A4 and blaster but it adds maneuverability while still allowing some modification of blaster shot (though not as good as true TL).

Others have brought up great ideas. So many things to try.

Do you know the build list for the IG-2000 build you mentioned? I just got two of those things and am eager to test them out.

expert handling (don't laugh, it's ridiculous in the right hands), auto-thrusters, HLC, Sensors

IG-88 B & C

I've not tried it on any of the Iggies yet but EH is insane on Scum Kath
