Echo's Movement

By DAMAGE, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm new to the game. I noticed the Tie Phantoms are extremely maneuverable. Echo has different barrel roll directions than a normal Tie Phantom. Can he use that ability to go both forward AND backward with the "Bank 2" template?

If Echo performs a barrel roll action - she uses the straight 1 maneuver template - just like everyone else.

However when she decloaks she uses the banked 2 template ( this is described on the rules card as a barrel roll but it is not to be confused with a barrel roll action)

This can be placed in any orientation along the left or right side of the ship's base, or along the front edge.

Thank you. That was exactly what I needed to know.

Welcome to the game!

Just a fair warning, phantoms (and echo) are just flat out awesome to fly. They are also extremely challenging. Don't get discouraged if you 'accidentally' fly her off the table..... I can shamefully say I have.

And if you want to see how maneuverable echo really is, click here

As a side note she can't decloak with a straight 2, it must be a banked 2.

Just a note but remember that those templates on the sides can still slide up and down as can the final positions. If Echo decloaks moving forward there are only two options but going sides ways there are many.

Give her an Engine upgrade and PTL for Boost+Barrel Role. I think I broke my computer.

Also how did you specifically pick Echo?

My advice would be to start by playing a regular Phantom or Whisper, and get used to the decloak mechanic. Once you've got a handle on how versatile that can be, then try Echo.

To the right of the Phantom, there's some writing in Aurebesh. It says "echo"
