Ghost Bumpers

By darthlurker, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi everyone, I was wondering what you thought of the list I've been practicing with, it's a bit fragile and I've only flown it 10 times or so but it's really fun to fly and has caused some opponents to spit in hate.

Sigma Pilot w/SJ, IA and SPA x2

Academy Pilot x3

It thrives on causing bumps and canceling enemy hits, which great against elite lists with few shots as getting them to bump forces them to shoot at academy pilots or get their hits cancelled. If you get initiative against a TIE swarm it's amazingly effective but if you don't you have to play conservatively during the opening rounds. I haven't tried to catch a super Dash with the list but if I slow-play my approach I'm confident that I can achieve a bump and bring him down provided that I don't lose a sigma in the first exchange. The same goes for facing a named phantom pilot.

Probably my favorite play when using this list is to cause an ace to bump and then unload on him at range 1 with 2 focus+evade phantoms, particularly if the other APs have wrecked more bumping havoc around the playmat.

What are your thoughts on this?

SJ --> sensor jammer?

while I much prefer FCS (holy hell do those four dice attacks become brutal) and the points drop would get you Dark Curse (for more spitting), I can vouch for the power of the IA Sigma. They're incredibly mentally taxing, but hilarious and deadly fun ^_^

SJ --> sensor jammer?

Yes it is. I like dark curse but sensor jammer takes it a step further if you can cause a bump by actively subtracting a hit from each roll. The lack of FCS does hurt when the dice collectively blank on me, but the reason I started trying this list was to maximize the effectiveness of sensor jammer and the only other way that I can think of doing it is by swapping the three academy pilots for a PtL Carnor Jax with autothrustors and a hull/stealth device, but personally I prefer having at least a few ships that can fly straight at my opponent.

sounds fair and I do thin the 3 academies are a great move (hilariously infuriating with IA :))

the only Jax and sensor combo I'd personally try is with Kagi :P

I've tried something similar a long time ago.

Then I realized I had so many points sunk into low ps phantom, that why not just go with echo.

Sensor jammer is expensive, especially two.

It'll be handy when you make your opponent collide, but a lot of times they will have that focus to basically make sensor jammer useless.

Good thing I'll say about it though, it does make your opponent think.

Spend the focus now, or save it for defense

I really like flying echo with a shadow Squadron

I've done really well with

Echo

Veteran instincts

Advanced cloak

Shadow

Stygium Particle Accelerator

Omnicron pilot

Vader

Academy pilot

The academy and Omnicron with vader are great blockers.

Also your opponent has some pretty tough choices to make
