How do you plan on dealing with arc dodgers with scum?

By NukeMaster, in X-Wing

Create a no-fly zone with Torkil Mux and then Ion them with Warthogs. (Y-wing + Ion + BTL-A4 + R4 Agromech)

If Soontir has dodged arcs why does he care that he shoots at PS0? Is it Torkil's ICT that he needs to be wary of?

I think this one is more oriented towards Phantoms with ACD

certainly this, but it also helps that you can get all your shots off with your lower PS pilots before the super ace gets to shoot

there's a pretty significant advantage to be had in that even if you never take a shot at soontir

Yeah that's basically it on all counts. I still have yet to fly against a Super Soontir with my "Mux's Mooks" squad (see newest NOVA episode #19), but it has done well against Phantoms.

It's a pretty significant advantage, shooting first

I love running skewed squads (1 super high PS ace covering a handful of generics) and having that ace snipe off problem pilots is really **** handy. My Luke Blue Blue Proto list really doesn't enjoy swarms (B-wings, man) but having Luke position himself to cover the slower Bs and eviscerate Ties with ranged 1 shots is basically what wins me my games against them.

Take that capability away, and suddenly the swarm is in a much better place to steamroll :)

Kavil with agromech and blaster turret. Add VI to make him PS 9. He throws 4 dice out of ARC at ranges 1-2 and he has 8 hit points. What's not to love? You can even give him a bomb if you want.

Autothrusters.

Palob. The two games I've played where I was running Kavil against Palob, Kavil was effectively neutered. Carnor Jax would be almost as bad.

Played that Kavil build with two Mandalorians last night against 2 interceptors (including Carnor Jax) and Echo. I got a R3 lucky shot on Carnor from a Firespray's back arc to clear him, but he effectively made Kavil a PS2 Y-wing with no turret. It was great.

Having run a whisper and fel list against two different scum lists with muxin them last night.... I'm really not scared of him anymore. Nuking him down from range three where he can't even touch you is not super difficult. However, some of that may have had to do with both players having him right in the middle of their squad and not in the back row, but a hawk dial is so garbage, catching up to a well flown phantom is a tall order to begin with, and Hawks can melt fast....

hell, just getting blocked or stressed or anything that denies him focus will make him rage :P

My favorite scum list is a simple one. It gives you the tools, but is also challenging to beat slippery phantoms and interceptors:

Syndicate Thug w/ Ion Cannon Turret, BTL-A4 title, Unhinged Astromech

Syndicate Thug w/ Ion Cannon Turret, BTL-A4 title, Unhinged Astromech

Syndicate Thug w/ Ion Cannon Turret, Bomb Loadout, Proximity Mine

I actually like the Rebel version of this better, as you can use R3-A2 in place of two 1-point astromechs. I was able to beat Phantom/Decimator today using this list. Maybe the best game of X-wing I've ever had! :)

there are so many great options with Y wings to counter arc dodgers. Yes, they have autothrusters, but you have 4 dice with a target Lock and twice the hit points, at least. (Kavil) I'm not saying that action denial can't be an issue, it always is. He still has his primary weapon, and you could kit out any of them with ion or autoblaster instead. there are numerous good options with Y-wings, and feedback array does not care about your dice, your eveade tokens, your triple actions, or anything else. Yes, scum has several good options I think

Turreted Y-Wings (it's not like the title is mandatory!), hotshot blasters, and feedback arrays?

BTL-S3s.

indeedly deed

lest we forget, auto-blaster > auto-thrusters

Three FA's and Mux can ruin Soontir's day pretty badly if he wants to mix it up too early.

I love this too. With two turrets left in tact (and those nasty bombs) it will be harder to out fly and avoid. As soon as you catch something in the net, it's dead.

For my part: Feedback Array, cheap blockers, HLCs, Tacticians in Firesprays, maybe Hot Shot with MF on N'Dru. I think people are a bit too overconfident in the ability of Mux, Palob and Y-Wings to actually score hits against a turtled-up arc-dodger, though.

EDIT: How is Leeachos supposed to help with arc-dodgers? He's a PS5 Headhunter with an EPT, whose only ability is to steal tokens from friends. He can't even handle a Royal Guard TIE.

yeah, I do not understanc Leechy either

The only thing I can see is him using a missile or hot-shot and then stealing a token from a friendly that wouldn't attack or be attacked anyway, thus heavily modifying his attack. That'll work literally once before he's back to being an overpriced Z, though

The leach is pretty genius, but needs to be paired with palob to work. tou have to look at it like Kyle Katarn, only instead of giving your own focus away, you just pluck one from an enemy, redirect it at the leach, and then the leach can fire ordnance or work a decent hotshot blaster. Palob will generate plenty of threat, since he's an action denial specialist and a damage dealer. No one will notice the Z setting up the targets that palob misses.

FA = Feedback Array?
