Scum Firesprays cannot fire primary attack backwards?

By xanderf, in X-Wing

I take that as an error.

Is anyone saying it's not an error?

But as Tvboy so rightfully puts it, it's a fairly easy one to fix and the game would be better off all in all with the change.

Maybe that's just me though but I find it frustrating at times to have to check the FAQ to see if an upgrade card has been changed from the original text.

You must not play many board or miniature games then. Although the vast majority of the FAQ isn't really fixes, but rather clarifications of the existing rules.

I've never noticed that icon on the firespray cards, and I've used them a lot. I knew about the secondary arc and the cardboard base clearly indicates it.

The fact that so many players never saw the icon makes it less surprising that it was missed in production. Sloppy, but some of them may not know of the icon either lol.

As embarrassing as it might be for them, considering that the people who currently design the game and write the rules are completely different from the people that designed and wrote the rules for the Imperial Firespray, I think it's totally possible that the guys who designed the Scum Firespray didn't know about the special icon or at least didn't realize that the FAQ specifically mentions that icon regarding whether a ship can shoot using an auxiliary arc.

I think this is very forgivable considering how old the Firespray is and how incredibly obscure that rule is.

It's obviously a mistake on the part of a graphic designer, and the editor that overlooked it. Anyone who would try to use that to their advantage in a match has serious problems. It will be addressed in the next FAQ.

As I stated before, my hope is that the FAQ doesn't swell like Wizkids ( Hi, I play heroclix). I also stated the FAQ is clarifications.

I'm done. Keep kissing the ring.

EDITED for brevity. Don't let the door hit you, &c.

Is the axillary arc on the ship base marker thing (I have no idea what to official name is for those things)

Yes the Auxiliary Arc is printed on the Ship Token (that's apparently the official name for them.)

It should be pointed out that it's taken the thousands of people who play X-Wing and the hundreds who have bought scum over 7 days to discover this error. 11 days, if you live on side of the pond that Imperial flag officers are from.

And after discovery, it's taken a scant few hours to get an official response from Fantasy Flight Games.

I've never noticed the different symbol either it's an easy thing to miss.
