would a 500 pt game on vassal where you can only have 12 ships max of each type be totally absurd and take way too long to finish?

I dont think so, while i dont play on vassal my 300pt games only last a couple of hours. 500pts might take the best part of your day its definatly not undoable unless the vassal software says no.

I would think it would. My Vassal games last between 1.5-2 hours on average. I'd think it'd be an all day thing with 500 points.

Didn't they lower the ship limit down from 12 small 6 big to 8 small and 4 big?

on a 3'x3' mat? seems like a recipe for one big cluster with lots of bumping.. sounds like a Dauntless decimators dream!!!

First couple of turns will probably feel like an eternity until you get in range to do something.
