The title actually says it all: Has anyone flown 7x Binayre Pirate with Feedback Array. There's been some talk about this list once the Illicit Upgrade has been spoiled. But now that Wave 6 is upon us, I'm wondering if someone has actually used that list. And if so, what have your results been? How difficult was it to fly? What do you have to watch out for?

I've been pondering about this list and I'd like to try it. But even if I use proxy cards, I'm one ship short between my rebel and scum Z-95. And if I would field it for an upcomming tournament, I'd have to buy a lot more stuff. So if anyone has some experience, I'd love to read about it.

In my honest opinion, feedback array is the single greatest upgrade to come out of S&V (yes, I love you too, thrusters, but I love the bug zappers more )

You ever fly rebel Zs? Ever been in a situation where you're counting on them to do any sort of damage to agility 3+ ships? Ever regretted taking them as anything but blockers because their rigid movements and piddly 2 dice just can't get **** done? well, that time is ******* past

So here's what you have to know about Feedback:

1.) works even against the guy you bumped into

2.) works with or without actions (sounds obvious, but the implications -- going through 'stroids or bumping without worry-- are huge)

3.) works with or without arcs (again sounds obvious, but the effect this has on your ability to spread your "net" without having to worry about the lack of barrel-roll or boost on ships which have neither is, again, huge)

4.) **** is guaranteed damage (**** you red dice and **** you green dice )

Feedback array has single-handedly made the Z a ship that draws maneuvering rather than dice rolling into the center of the game. How well it does is 100% down to your positioning. Forget about actions or trying to draw arcs on dodgers or maneuvering predictably or stress, whatever, feedback has exponentially increased the flexibility of this little ship.

For all my gushing, I don't think I'd ever run the full swarm (too much of a one trick pony, once the phantom or Soontir laps you, you're pretty much ******) but the mini-swarm has a very interesting interaction with scum's lower PS "aces," namely that they're the single best blockers in the game and therefore the best way to garantee that you get shots on arc-dodgers (and that said arc-dodgers don't pull too many evades out their ass and escape with one hull )

So far, I've been using Xizor because Xizor will never get shot while the threat of feedback and the promise of easy kills are on the table. This leaves him free to take risks and set up some devastating shots, especially when taking advantage of the plentiful blockers in his squad. It's also much more efficient for the Zs, who only have to feedback to mop up the last few damage boxes on a phantom/interceptor instead of trying to draw 3-4 ships into range 1 (a hilariously awesome moment when you pull it off, just don't expect it to ever happen)

Lastly, you can think you feedback Zs as a swarm of mini carnor jaxes. why? Because if a squishy arc dodger is in range 1 of any of them, I would bet money that ******* is going to barrel-roll at the first possible opportunity to get away from that guaranteed hit.

So yeah, feedback is the best thing ever

It is really hard to fly because it's 100% positioning dependent and uses ships that can't reposition at all (sans Xizor), but it's also much easier than flying normal Zs because feedback just unlocks a whole new dimension of usability.

Nice Battle Report. 2 things I took away from it:

Trying to take down 16 HP by just using Feedback Array is probably not feasible.

Better to just take the range 1 attacks instead if the opponent is in your arc anyway.

I think the FA swarm will act like a normal shooty swarm most of the time against most lists, but against arc-dodgy ships like Soontir and the Phantom they'll be able spread out and act like a minefield, forcing them to choose between being in arc or being at range 1, slowly pinging them to death over a few turns.

Thanks for the link, that's very informative. Though I would have preferred the Swarm leaving as a winner. That doesn't get me closer to buying the 7th Z-95

(I have found it incredibly entertaining to use the self-inflicted ionization to just bump Zs into their mates in order to set-up very awkward turns for my opponent kind of like how a stressed shuttle emulates the full stop maneuver by bumping into a friendly, so that's basically like having inertial dampener )

how is this being "that guy?"

this isn't fortressing, the mechanics in play aren't even remotely the same. Fortressing is ******* annoying because it's just a dice game. Feedback bumping is a less annoying strategy because 1.) it is incredibly difficult to pull off and 2.) you're pulling it off once per game at most.

The point is not to keep the Zs in the same place forever, it's just to hold them for one turn so you can maximize the amount of time your opponent stays caught in your bug zapper web. After the round of bumps, anything that survives should have cleared you very easily the following turn, and you can't really give chase because you're ionized.

honestly, I'll take crafty Zs over the same old tired "oh, i'll just de-cloak here now that I've seen how everyone's moved" or "oh, you predicted where the fattie moved? let me just boost then. No harm done." The former requires far more skill than the later, unless you're a new player trying to master Echo

Everyone remember that feedback array is range 1. A human centipede of Z-95s is going to be the most trivial thing to avoid and pick apart if it decides to do nothing but caterpillar towards you.

So remember that feedback hurts them just as much, so while a poor lil Blue-Squadron B-wing might get zapped to death it'll also be going 8 total damage if it takes nothing but feedbacks. There are tons of ships that are more effective to simply shoot than feedback (general rule: 2 agility or less unless it's down to 1 hull and you have a deep paranoia of dice...)

You also really don't want to be feedbacking every turn if you can help it. I mean, most recently I was doing that all the time because I was up against Whisper, Soontir, Saber (i.e the most ideal targets possible) but by the 3rd round we both realized that I had actually done more damage to myself than my opponent had (combination feedback and asteroids, we need a scum Fly Casual which would be Fly like you don't give a ****)

Thankfully, none of them shot at Xizor

Yeah, I guess your right. Like one time this guy barrel rolled his interceptors out of my arcs, then boosted to get a range 1 attack on me, and I was like "dude, how am I gonna shoot you like that? If you're gonna be 'that guy' I'm not playing you". And then there was that time someone put all his TIEs where I was gonna fly my ships, so I collided and didn't have any actions, and some of my guys didn't even have shots. Then, you're never gonna believe this, he has his TIEs fire on my one ship that did have an arc but no focus tokens, chaining Swarm Tactics, and he totally destroyed my ship before I even got to attack. Totally unfair, and bad sportsmanship!"

I feel like if you were to complain out loud about something as hilarious and awesome (and laughably easy to beat) as a Z-95 Centipede crawling up the middle of the board, YOU would be "that guy".

By the way, you could totally make a Z-95 Centipede last forever, just move all your back dudes first, bumping them, and then k-turn the front guy (assuming he's not ioned), and on the next turn the ship that k-turned goes 3 forward and then all the Zs that were behind him bump again.

Again, terrible but hilarious.

The card is better on one or two ships with more hull points for the usage in just very few situations (for example last hull or shield point of an enemy ship or stripping of a stealth device (not very often too))

Doesn't work. You're not hitting the target with an attack, you're just doing damage to it. Thus Stealth Device's discard trigger is not met and it stays right where it is.
