I will admit that I have not looked into the S/V stuff because I told myself that I would stick to Ties this coming tournament season. Have there been any spoiled EPTs or anything cool that would work particularly well with ties? I usually fly 7w/HR or 6all named ties.
Thoughts?
Any upgrades in the S/V stuff for a Tie Swarm player?
only thing I'm thinking right away is to put bodyguard on a black squadron to protect howlrunner a bit more.

Bodyguard is Scum only :/
It depends on what your swarm is. Is it nothing but TIEs? I play a mini-swarm with Lambda escort, and Accuracy Corrector might be useful if you're bumping / stalling a lot on your Lambda and won't get dice modifications.
Otherwise, not much can be used for TIEs. Calculation isn't a bad option if you get a decent roll on BSPs, but at that point I almost wonder if Night Beast is better for Focus/Evade shenanigans.
Edited by ArdusKaineBsp + calculation swarm.
But oh the money.
Unfortunately, Bodyguard's Scum only.
I had the same idea a couple days ago, heh.

This is what I'm thinking. 5 BSP's with Calculation next to Howlrunner with Push and a Stealth Device. 99pts. The reroll will help you almost guarantee a hit and crit every attack.

To each their own, but seems kind of boring. I rarely fly the same list from week to week, sometimes will fly 2 or 3 different lists in a game night.
Tournaments are a different animal, but never play the same list 2 in a row, still.
Yep. Calculation is the way to go.
If you do look into S&V, look at the Scyk. It's basically a slightly better Tie Fighter. You can also upgrade it with a cannon, missile, or torp.
You'd have to buy 5 SVs. Unless you epic a lot, I don't think anybody needs that many.
It would be a nasty swarm though.
Or buy the cards online, which might be cheaper.

There's only so much you can learn from playing a list once. For people that want to improve, having a good list and practicing multiple games with it to learn the ins and outs of how to play it against a variety of match ups and opponents is a great way to improve their game. Imagine if you were playing an MMO or RPG, you might have alts to keep you from getting bored, but you wouldn't create a new character every time you hit level 2 right?
As for the OP, no, there is nothing in Scum for you if you are running a pure TIE swarm, other than Hull Upgrades and Stealth Devices. FFG sees the TIE swarm as the shark of the game that's been good from the start and doesn't need their help to evolve. You'll have to be creative and figure out how to evolve your swarm through your strategies and tactics instead of through new upgrades.
I'm gonna echo Calculation as a really good EPT for Black Squadron Perhaps this?
Black Squadron Pilot with Calculation x3 (45)
Backstabber (16)
Dark Curse (16)
Howlrunner With Determination and Hull Upgrade (22)
The Unique Ties open the volley of cannon fire to strip shields then the Blacks get in crits. Backstabber gets extra dice on turrets and Curse is as obnoxious as always .
Calculation is - wierdly - about the only new elite pilot talent in the whole **** release. Because of Illicit Upgrades and Salvaged Astromechs, there's a whole slew of cards that are new but useless to anyone but scum players, and then a lot of cannons (irrelevant for TIE/ln pilots).
Access to a stealth device from a small box expansion is nice. That's about it.
Calculation is good, and it's cheap as hell (1 point!) but at the same time, it's not actually increasing your damage output; just increasing the proportion that's criticals - which seems to be a big thing with the whole wave (see mangler cannons, for example)
Starsoul-klr's squad looks nice.
Equally, I'd be tempted to use Calculation on Mauler Mithel. A PS7 four-dice attack with a ****-near garuanteed critical is quite disconcerting for someone cheaper than most fighter's basic generic fighter!
My current TIE/ln list is the six named pilots, with Howl and Mithel with Veteran Instincts - I could swap out Mithel's for calculation; it depends how important the PS9 is (one good thing is that scum have no PS9 and few PS8 pilots, so mithel's PS7 actually becomes useful again...)
5 Alphas with Autothrusters
or
4 Autothruster alphas with Howlrunner and swarm tactics
or
Howlrunner
2 BSP's with DtF
2 Autothruster alphas
1 AP

Only thing keeping me from running 4 Alphas and Howl is I don't want to buy 3 more Interceptors. I wish Alphas would have come with the Aces.
The only things S/v brings the swarm is more juicy targets for them to kill
4x scyks with mangler and serissu is pretty **** scary
5 Alpha Interceptors with 5 Autothrusters is pretty good actually, just make sure your initial engagement is range 3.
