Is Anyone Selling Custom Angled Flight Stands? (And if not, why not?)

By saturnflight, in X-Wing

I, like many people, think of B-Wings as iconically banking. The straight up position used on all X-Wing Minis just doesn't do justice to that ship. So are there any sellers producing flight stands with a bend in them?

No, but mostly because most people will do it themselves.

They'll either replace the connector on the back of the model with magnets so they can put it what ever tilt they want, or just glue it at the tilt they want.

I'd like to see these too. I don't like making permanent adjustments to my minis.

Not my site, never bought from here but have come across his page a couple of times.

Corsec Engineering website for telescoping rods.

These attach to the Omni stands evidently. Looks cool, but I would rather have more minis than more gadgets.

If you want your B-wings rotated, you can literally just twist the thing. It won't come off (immediately. I got mine a nice 90 degree rotation without it breaking).
But, since then I've put all my ships on magnets. Much cooler

Alright so I was like hmmm why couldn't you just take a soldering iron to a peg and twist it sideways. But then I couldn't find my soldering iron so I used a clothes iron. And it worked... but then I realized it wasn't twisted so that the ship is facing the right direction so I tried again, but this time it didn't go as smoothly and the peg cracked off a bit... close enough?

Update: Tried it again with a hairdryer, much easier, but be careful not to melt either tips and ruin the connectors.

Update2: Many pegs died to bring us this information

Update3: Please don't burn down your house or ruin your game pieces doing this and then blame me

Lol, this made my day. RIP, flight stand

Haha just noticed you can see the blurry failed attempts in the background of the second picture :) The first one ended up breaking apart completely :(

You can just slowly twist the B-Wing peg so that it's banked without breaking the peg.

People compliment my B-Wings and laugh when they ask me how I banked my B-Wings and I'm like "I just twisted it".

I've actually been working on my pegs last night and today, too.

Another pro-tip: Dropping your pegs in boiling water to soften them up and then trying to bend them doesn't work either. Don't ask me how I know this...

So the hairdryer method worked okay?

I've found that cutting them in half with an exacto, sanding/filing the cut ends to an angle, and then super-gluing them back together seems to work pretty well, too, and then you can use them on other ships besides B-wings (the Starviper is another one that begs to be tilted, and I'm excited to see TIEs and Interceptors on them as well).

EDIT: After reading stmack's post, I tried this, and it works really well: Grab ahold of one end of the peg with a pair of pliers. Use a lighter to heat up the peg in the middle for a few seconds, then bend it and then dip it in water to cool it off. Like stmack said, make sure you don't melt the ends. I recommend holding the male end of the peg with your pliers, as it tends to melt the easiest. The pliers will help shield it and keep it cool.

EDIT2: It works on large base pegs, too, you just have to heat all the way around the spot where you want to bend it. I like the lighter method because it keeps the heat pretty focused on one area, and if you mess up you can always reheat it and try again.

Happy modding! ;)
