IG2k and Injured Pilot

By xvc, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello,

so the question goes to the effect of an Injured Pilot critical:

I have 2 IG-88 pilots both with IG2k title, one of them receives Injured Pilot critical turning off it's pilot ability for him.

Now can the other IG still utilize the injured one ability?

thx

(Emphasis mine)

Injured Pilot:

ALL players must ignore your pilot ability and all of your (EPT) Upgrade cards.

Yes, regarding one that got the card, but the other one has that ability too by:

"You have the pilot ability of each other friendly ship with the IG-2000 Upgrade card (in addition to your own pilot ability)."

Yes, regarding one that got the card, but the other one has that ability too by:

"You have the pilot ability of each other friendly ship with the IG-2000 Upgrade card (in addition to your own pilot ability)."

And if you look at the other IG-88 (the one that has the crit) to see what pilot ability he has to offer his buddy, you will find none as the crit forces all players to ignore what ever was there.

K, THX guys

I don't think this is obvious yet...it comes down to terminology. What does ignore mean? They still have the ability but you are ignoring the use of it. So if they still have the ability, then I could agrue that the other IG-88 still can use it. The precedence I am using is in the rules where they always say upgrades and crits "you" implies the ship with the card or dealt the card.

This has been brought up more than a few times, including here.

I've been compiling a list of reoccurring questions about wave 6 with all the debatable answers (some just need an FAQ ruling to decide), so have a look if you have any other questions.

Q. What happens when an IG-88 takes an Injured Pilot card?

A. Also needs an FAQ update. This topic is being discussed to some extent in the other IG-88 thread. Injured Pilot states that all players must ignore your pilot ability. This is going one of a couple ways:

1) Only that injured droid loses his ability, and all abilities gained from other droids; the others still have his ability

2) The injured droid loses his ability, he loses all abilities gained by the title, and all other droids lose his ability.

3) The injured droid loses his ability, but retains all gained abilities.

Personally, I think number 2 is the closest. The title adds pilot abilities of other droids; therefore, if you have no abilities, you don't have theirs. Likewise, you don't have one to give to the other droids.

If anyone else cares to add on to this, I'll be happy to edit the OP. These are the ones I see popping up over and over again, so I thought maybe we could have em all in one place for people to see. I've stated my opinions on the questions but if there is no solid answer I've made note of that as well."

Well I tend to go the 1'st way. Since the "bonus" abilities from another droid/droids are gained by the IG2K title from the beginning of the game by each droid and that card is intact by Injured Pilot card... I'd love to keep interpreting it that other droids still have this ability even if particular one that is injured lost it along the way. Ability is not an action and it's written that "players" need to ignore it not "pilots".

Another Question is if Injured Pilot looses all it's abilities or just one he had originally - because the ability isn't on his list in the first place but provided by the title card which is still intact...

// and a freaking good job on the list

Thanks. Just trying to help out :D

Here's a response that was given in the X-Wing Melbourne Facebook Group:

" Christopher Ballanytyne Just to help out, here's a reply from FFG: Hi Chris,
That is correct, the pilot ability is lost for both ships. However, the Aggressor that has received the Injured Pilot Damage card CAN use the pilot ability of the other Aggressor.
