So I'm looking at putting Greedo with Boba + Mangler Cannon. The problem is, the way Greedo's card is worded, the crit from the Mangler will end up being the first card dealt and therefore nullify the first card dealt up per Greedo's card. Or at least that's how I'm reading this. Can anyone explain how these two things interact, or am I correct in assuming that Greedo is useless on a ship with a Mangler Cannon?
Greedo and Manglers.
Won't it depend on whether or not the mangler rolls any additional booms?
1 boom will get changed to a kaboom, but any additional booms stay booms and would still get applied first.
So, not completely useless, but of less effectiveness.
Or am I completely misremembering what both cards say?
Edited by ForgottenloreGreedo's card says:
The first time you attack each round and the first time you defend each round, the first Damage card dealt is dealt faceup.
And Mangler Cannon says:
Attack: Attack 1 ship. When attacking, you may change 1 of your [boom]
results to a [kaboom]
result. Range: 1-3. Attack value: 3.
So, yeah...looks like if you deal out the crits first, the first card to be deal up from Greedo's card is also the same crit that was dealt out by the mangler...unless there's something going on here that implys that Greedo's face up card is to be dealt before any crits are dealt. But I don't see that.
Edited by RadzapThe only time Greedo will not be of use is if you have only Critical hit results left when you deal damage. Damage is dealt one card at a time, damage first and then critical damage.

Shields play their part as well. So it more like, when the defender only has critical results left to suffer when all shields are gone, Greedo is useless.
You could always go HLC and avoid the inadvertent crit. Pretty good point jump though.
Greedo's card works because you deal hits before crits.
So say you hit with all 3 Mangler shots and they evaded 1. You'd turn 1 into a crit, but you'd still have a normal hit going through first.
Greedo deals that first card face up, then the mangler's crit is dealt face up too. Horrible against Tie lists.
Edited by InterceptorMadRight, if only a crit is going through, Greedo accomplishes nothing. If a hit and a crit are going through, both will be face-up (the hit due to Greedo and being dealt first, then the natural crit).

This seems to imply you're unclear on how dealing damage works. It's already been addressed, but to try to make it more clear you deal any facedown damage cards from (hit) results before face up cards from (crit) results, the same way you cancel (hit) results with evade dice before you cancel (crit) results. So in the theoretical situation where you have both Greedo and a Mangler cannon, and are firing at a ship with no shields, and the dice look like this:
Attack Dice(after Mangler modification):
(hit) (hit) (crit)
Defense dice
(evade) (blank)
The single (evade) result cancels one of the attacker's (hit) results, leaving an uncancelled (hit) and (crit). The defender will be dealt one facedown damage card from the uncancelled (hit), which Greedo flips face up, followed by one face up card caused by the uncancelled (crit) from the Mangler. If the Defender in the above scenario instead rolled (evade) (evade), cancelling both (hit) results, then yes, Greedo would do nothing.
So Greedo plus Mangler cannon should work pretty well if you can get two hits through consistently. Now if only Boba can take a Savaged Mech he could take Determination and ignore a ton of crits that he'll get from taking Greedo!
Boba can take Determination. It is an elite pilot talent card, and he has the slot for that.
