Came up in a game. How do you handle the decision to use either the banked or turned S-loops? Do you declare your intent right as you reveal the dial? These work differently from the boost/barrel roll, because unlike those, you can still perform it if you hit an obstacle. So, when are you fully committed?

I'd say, when setting the template after revealing your dial. At that point you must choose which one are you going to use. (Step 2 of the activation).

Then, you are fully committed, and proceed to execute the maneuver.
