Looking for an online Edge Of The Empire Roleplay!

Relaxed, easy going veteran RPer of several systems, wants to play via skype or something similair on a regular basis.

Let me know if theres anything like this going, would be great to get to know some new people :)

I'm interested if you find some people. Very new to RPGs but I would really like to try this out since I'm a Star Wars junkie.

Sounds great, I will let you know.

Me too.

Though there are a few threads like this already... Think there is a shortage of people wanting to GM :)

I just got the core book and I'm reading through this giant textbook so I'm definately out on GMing just because I am very new. If we can get a group with some people with experience, once we play a few times I would love to GM because I have some interesting ideas.

It seems to me that one of the failures of modern gamers is teaching others to GM. I learned the good old fashioned way by buying a copy of Saga Edition Star Wars and being confused. Me and a friend ended up co-GMing for a couple other friends, so when it came to improvising, we had two heads and more ideas. We could also divvy up the NPCs in combat, reducing the burden...

So my group basically formed with two GMs at the start. We got lucky I guess, and now, about 8 years later, I look at some of the newcomers to the group, and they're just boggled by the thought of GMing anything, regardless of system. And I can pinpoint the reason easily enough: we haven't taught anyone else to GM.

Here's kind of a radical thought:

I GM a starter adventure on Google Hangouts for say, three people. Everyone involved must have an interest in learning to GM! I don't want vets who just want to be players... After a couple of sessions for everyone to get the basics down, someone else gets to take over as GM, but I'm there as backup (not a player), ready to help manage NPCs, interpret results, track initiative, and quote rules at the drop of a hat. I'd meet with the GM on Hangouts an hour or half hour early to get the gist of the adventure and iron out any kinks, and we'd keep the sessions short one-shots to ease into things. The newbie GM also has the advantage of only managing two players instead of a larger group. Then next session, we rotate again. Each time, someone new gets to GM for others who are new to this, so there's less pressure.

This way, everyone gets to play in five sessions and act as GM for one of them. I've got a busy school schedule to consider, but does this sound interesting to prospective new GMs?

Yeah Mac, that sounds good to me. While playing star wars minis and x-wing with my son, I sort of do something like GMing with some of the campaign rules. I'm interested in learning.

Mutton,

I think you're right on with this. I am new to RPG's like everyone on this forum, have been in love with Star Wars since birth. I have been off and on trying to get into SWRPGs for 20 years now but never been able to.

I have GM'ed a beginner game with myself and one other person but it was rough because just one GM and PC is tough.

I would LOVE to be involved with anything you're doing and would be very willing to rotate in the interest of casual learning and FUN. migs sounds like they're in too.

PM me if you have something in mind!

Im in!

I would really like to learn to be a better gm. Its tough to get in practice when you can't find a group, or overcome the anxiety of jumping into a pug. I've run a few sessions with friends locally, but play every 2-4 (sometimes 6) weeks so don't get great experience. I like the idea of a rotating gm group.

You can always take turns GM'ing. Then everyone wins! I'm in a multi-GM campaign that already reached capacity, but given the recent threads of people looking for a GM and game, you all should get together and start one up, too :).

Yeah, I think this may turn into a group we can all play in and alternate GMing. I'm still very new, so I think Mac may be taking charge. Stay tuned.

Best of luck!

I am starting up a EotE game via Roll20 here in the next week or two. Depending how the group comes together I may end up having to run two groups. Thus I may have openings.

In addition to all that, roll20 has a character sheet and dice roller for EotE available, but it requires a subscription for the game host. If you guys are doing a rolling GM, I would be happy to join/assist as well as host.

Hell yeah Vod, we'll talk. How much is the sub on Roll20?

For Roll20, they have 3 levels: Base (free), Supporter ($5/mo or $50/yr), and Mentor ($10/mo or $100/yr). You can see the differences between them here: https://app.roll20.net/account/supporter

The host for the game requires a Mentor subscription to use the embedded character sheet and dice roller for EotE, because both rely heavily on the API. The host for the game can also assign other users to act as the GM.

You can still host a game without a subscription and have access to the maps, chat log, handouts, video/audio calls, etc, you just will need some other way to handle dice.

Here is the join link for a blank EotE game. I'll mark anyone I see join as a GM so ya'll can play around with it.

You can use google hagouts app for roll 20 to play in GH. and still have all of the roll 20 features.

Whatever is easier and cheap works for me.

I ... have been in love with Star Wars since birth.

Since birth? Lucky!

I had to wait until I was 7 years old before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released in theatres, but since then, I've been in love with Star Wars.

There is a Google+ Hangouts app (Roll20 can launch into Google+ Hangouts) that can handle EotE dice if you're not a Roll20 Mentor. Although I have to say, the EotE character sheet and dice integration for Roll20 is absolutely fantastic.

So looks like three people are in the Roll20 game, and they all have been gmified. How many we expecting, anyways?

For a Play by Post side of it - rpol.net (Roleplay Online) has been pretty good to me. Free to play, run games, etc; can take a little getting used to the website though. I know of a couple EotE games kicking around on there, and it's easy enough to make an account and start one of your own.

So are any of you still interested in grouping up? Because i really want to play

I am still interested.
