Hot Shot Blaster and Munitions Failsafe

By DakDaniels, in X-Wing Rules Questions

My search fu did not come up with anything so I will ask here...

If your "Hot Shot" Blaster attack misses and you are equipped with Munitions Failsafe, do you still have to discard the blaster? Or does the blaster count as a weapon for the purposes of the Munitions Failsafe verbiage?

Thanks!

Yes, MF would let you keep the Hot Shot blaster - MF is not restricted to missiles/torps, just any weapon that requires you to discard it in order to perform the attack.

Secondary Weapons
Several ships may equip secondary weapons, such as
proton torpedoes. This section explains a few rules
related to secondary weapons.
Ships may perform only one attack during the
Combat phase. Secondary weapon cards show the
header “Attack:” as a reminder that a ship attacks
with either its primary weapon or one of its
secondary weapons.
The Hotshot Blaster satisfies this requirement. It is also why some upgrade cards that use attack dice are not Secondary Weapons, i.e. Proximity Mine

Excellent! Thanks!
