"""---Fantastic Agressor Build!!---"""

By Orgapurius0907, in X-Wing

I have been really sucessful with this build:

IG-88B and IG-88D(36 each)

*Stay on Target(2)

*Fire-control System(2)

*"Mangler" Cannon(4)

*Flechette Cannon(2)

*"Hotshot" Blaster(3)

* Munitions Failsafe(1)

*IG-2000(0)

Having only a forward firing arc is hard. So Hotshot was huge help. Giving your opponent that mind set that you can still shoot him out side your firing arc, atleast once. Now since we have autothrusters these days, penetrating a hit outside of arc is deviously hard. Your hotshots will disappear uselessly; and they're really expensive, so that's why munitions failsafe is a go. But the real trick is this. On the second round of battle, when ships are already within range, you pick a main target for both your IGs. Then you target lock and shoot with your mangler; then again, you receive your target lock from fire-control system. On the third round, you perform a Segnors Loop to get behind your opponents, while they move forward. With the IG-88D-Stay on Target combo, you get to choose 4 different forms of segnors loop, for both your IGs! That helps A LOT when picking your SLoop. Then, on this round's combat phase, one of your IGs will shoot on the main target with flechette, therefore minimizing his options for maneuvering next round. Getting this done for was extremely easy because of B's ability. If the first IG penetrated with flechette, The other IG will shoot with Mangler on the same target for more trouble. Then, on next turn, the main target cant perform the K turn because of stress, so your IGs will simply perform a green maneuver, still having that target lock from fire-control system. Doing this repetitiously with unpredictable SLooping will make your opponents melt, one - by - one. I have played 9 matches with this build; my opponents varying from Fat Hans, to famous arc dodgers, to numerous nimble fighters, and I only lost once.

Try giving this build a shot guys, Its Awesome!!!

Nice!

I still need to actually get into this game, it seems like a LOT of fun.

SoT at ps6 seems like it would be a little under-utilized. I do like the hot shot.

How often do you find flechette being used? Seems like mangler is just too good to pass up in any situation.

On the second round of battle, when ships are already within range ...

Methinks your opponents need to stop flying recklessly forward at full speed. I don't think I've ever been in range during turn two, at least not for a year or more. YMMV obvs.

A Boosting large ship can easily get into range on turn one, even if your opponent only went 2 straight. A TIE fighter that went 2 straight and tried to barrel roll back would still be in range of an Aggressor that did a boost + 3 bank/4 straight on the very first turn. 2 turns is an eternity, you can not only be in range you could literally be in their starting zone so it really doesn't matter whether they were charging forward or not.

OP: That looks like a lot of fun. I'm going to (shamelessly) imitate you and give your build a roll.

Stay on Target is a very nice match with IG-88D.

It is. I have seen many people go from playing with someone elses ships to buying a bunch of their own the very next day.

Does the hotshot blaster count as a secondary weapon? I thought illicit's would be in the same category as bombs and such and not counted as them. Sorry to be the party pooper.

I didnt think MF worked on hotshot either....

My bad they do count as secondaries (page 19 of the rule book). Any upgrade cards with the word Attack: counts as a secondary weapon. So if there was a bomb or a title or even Ept that started with the word Attack: it would count as a secondary weapon.

Im kinda tempted to run six z-95's now with hotshots and fail-safes to troll phantoms

I like this build better:

IG-88C and IG-88B

Push the limits

Hv laser cannon

Fire control system

autothrusters

engage at range 3, first shot from Hv cannon either hits or strips tokens, if the shot misses, second shot from Hv cannon ripps into the target. at this range you will also be very difficult to hit. then you start arc dodging and lighting everything up

I didnt think MF worked on hotshot either....

Works really well on an IG. They basically always have a shots on the phantom until both of the IG's have actually hit it. On N'dru the combo is completely sick.

Well we are seeing a resurgence in xxxb lists of late so against that it would be good, if someone's playing the PS game then yeah kind of wasted.

Hot shot saved an aggressor for me first Time I took it, if my friend had taken it last night he'd of not been wasting a turn of shooting when he misjudged his movement.

Not used flechette yet but I can see it hampering large ships, slow roll a scyk and stress out dash he becomes far easier to down when he can't barrel roll all over the place, a falcon that can't evade drops that much faster etc.

That was me. Played on a Thursday night a little over a year ago. Next day at the FLGS getting a core, tie, and xwing expansion set.

I bought the starter just to give it a go with a friend, played a couple of games i brought it over the next week he'd spent £70 on rebel ships.

IG88-B (36)
Once per round, after you perform an attack that does not hit, you may perform an attack with an equipped secondary weapon.
Wingman (2)
– At the start of the Combat phase, remove 1 stress token from another friendly ship at Range 1.
Advanced Sensors (3)
– Immediately before you reveal your maneuver, you may perform 1 free action. If you use this ability, skip your "perform Action" step during this round.
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
– Attack: Attack 1 ship. Immediately after rolling your attack dice, you must change all your results to results. Attack value: 4. Range: 2-3.
IG-2000 (0)
– You have the pilot ability of each other friendly ship with the IG-2000 Upgrade card (in addition to your own pilot ability).
Autothrusters (2)
– When defending, if you are beyond Range 2 or outside the attacker's firing arc, you may change 1 of your blank results to a result. You can equip this card only if you have the icon.

IG88-D (36)
You may execute the or manoeuvre using the corresponding [ 3] or [ 3] template.

I have grown fond of this pairing for the Duel Aggressors. IG-88B seems to be the Standard pilot for the pairing as most builds I've seen include him. Getting those double shots is important when your dealing with only two ships that have forward firing arcs. IG88D seems to be a tricky beast to get your head around as his ability is purely positioning. Much practice is needed to fully understand how to abuse this pilot. Giving them both Wingman and Advance Sensors keeps their actions, allows the pair to be hard to keep track of. The lower Pilot Skill can be an issue for the droids as they are coming into a meta that is full of highly maneuverable ships. Having the option to change the Segnors Loop to a hard 3 instead of a bank 3 allows you to adjust to the current board state. Adding in an Advanced Sensor boost before before performing these tricks will leave the shots unmodified but could make it hard on your opponent to track keeping you in arc. Wingman is there for the clean up allowing you to keep this ship nimble and performing S-Loops every turn. In fact you can almost rotate the the two of them like a clicking clock of doom around the map like this:

Voila_Capture%202015-03-04_09-33-18_AM_z

Next time you are deploying the mechanical menace, give this load out a try. It will take a game of two to fully understand what you can with this pair.

Its going to be hard to keep 2 IG-88s within RB1 of each other...

Has anyone tried running dual aggressors along with more ships instead of putting 28 points into upgrades? For 28 points you could fit 2 Binayre pirates and still have room for autothrusters or FCS on the aggressors. Or maybe put in Torkhil Mux with an ion turret. The list I would like to try is

Laetin A'Shera w/title and HLC

IG-88C

IG-88D

The plan would be to try to keep Laetin at range 3 as much as possible while the IG-88's get in close. D's movement options helps them to stay out of arc while getting shots and C allows them to boost in for closer shots while also providing evade tokens. I'm looking forward to trying them out, but I sadly haven't even had time to try out my wave 5 ships yet that I got back in December. I think I'll have to try my Decimator and dual Phantom build first.
