Uh-Oh... nobody is buying StarVipers!

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Well, I ordered two...

...now if only they'd actually be delivered.

I got two and not just for cards I've only flown the ship once so far but I like how it flew.

2 seems to be the magic number,

I already got a pair too. So far, I like them. They are good dogfighters. Durable enough, especially with autothrusters, and with their little tricks if you take the Virago.

OMG!

Scum was released less than a week ago and it hasn't quite sold out yet!

Don your hardhats and cast your eyes skyward!

We're doomed I tell ye - DOOMED!

probably because they look ugly.. that said once i unboxed mine its starting to grow on me...

Or maybe because the nature of the ship (particularly points cost) makes it less appealing to buy en masse than something like the Scyk, or even the Aggressor?

I think for the most part the ship needs more time to bake, its not that its a bad ship i think that just compared to some of the others in s&v its just not getting people to flip out so much. Maybe we'll see in future releases some kinda amazing combo between the system and illicit slots that raises this ship to hmm its okay to omg-auto-include.

I agree about the starviper and E wing comparison. But Xizor is no Corran. He's also certainly no Rexlar.

If you swapped PS on Guri and Xizor I think you might have a real contender.

Except that the Illicit and Systems can be only equiped by named pilot with the unique Virago title so, even if there were a new upgrade coming out, it would not incite people to get a second/third or fourth one. As it is, it can only equip a torpedo (bleh) or a mod (Autothrusters or hull upgrade(against flechette torpedoes)).

I personally think that they are already nice and bought 4, but I don't think customization (except for the title) will help the ship get more love. Unless torpedoes really become a thing.

My advise to people would be to get 1-2 and then try it. If they fall in love, then get a third or maybe a fourth one.

Got one. Love it.

i think its cool and I have 2 coming in, should be here today.

but I personally would have rather seen a Skipray Blast boat instead.

just my personal opinion

They kind of needed a big name crime Lord and jabba wouldn't fit into a fighter.

Skipray will come if we've learnt one thing it's that the devs like their EU as much as we do, getting a third faction enough ships just took priority so they worked on scum firespray hwk and y-wing pilots.

And there are alot of people that liked shadows of the empire.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground with the Starviper - people either seem to love the way it looks or hate it.

I simultaneously love the way it looks and hate the design.

I think it looks fantastic, but considering I am so clumsy I can smash a coffee cup from 3 streets away, I'm concerned that my starviper won't last long

I always thought its weirdness and its name gave it a nicely alien quality that sharply distinguishes it from the rest of the star wars line-up, making it a strikingly unique ship :P

on the other hand, don't try to imagine what it'd look like without its wings...

I have 2, have not flown them yet but just from trying to make builds I think they would have been much more useful if the title card could be used with the 2 scrub star vipers and not just the 2 named ones.

Well, I bought three! Haven't played with them yet, but I think they look very cool :)

I did pre-order two, but the second one was really for the cards. I'm looking at Autothrusters and Accuracy Correctors. I did think that maybe having the two would work with Guri and Xizor, but after thinking about it for a while, I don't really see two working well in a list...unless you are going with many generics.

I think it's a ship that some people will dismiss at first and say it's not competitive in high level tournaments, but some people will start to do well with them and it will start changing people's minds.

Also, I like the look of the ship. I mean, in a huge galaxy, why do all the ships have to look the same? I thought the B-wing was weird when RotJ first came out, but now it's standard. I say it's a good ship for an alien noble to have built.

I did recently listen to audio book for Shadow of the Galaxy just because of the X-wing releases.

I love the ship too, but FFG should of done a few more upgrade cards for the absent Vigos.

I know I keep bringing them up...

:D

I think the generic Star Viper is really over costed and lacks upgrade slots, otherwise I was playing with the idea of buying 3 or even 4 (I love the way the ship looks and feels on the board),

Also, we have a player in our store that chopped the wings and magnetized them, so the ship can now fold its wings just like the Star Viper can, its amazing!

It's funny comparing X-wing's Vigos to Edge of the Empire's version. In EotE they are serious badasses, but in x-wing they're PS 3 mooks.

You have to take pics of that and post them in the Repaints & Conversions sub-forum. That sounds awesome. Also, chek out what player's have been doing to that ship already, there's a couple with modded wing up already.

Having played Shadows of the Empire on N64 til the game broke, I love the SV. I had the action fleet model and everything. I like its design because to me its still Star Warsy but it was very exotic looking. Pretty much what you would see from an alien race.

I was hoping FFG would learn from its mistakes and give all future PS3s-PS5 generics EPTs. There is simply no reason to take them.

As an Imperial Squint pilot I will admit I picked up the Viper for autothrusters, but that is not the only card in the pack that is useful for the Imperial Navy. Accuracy Corrector is also quite useful. Since I am not that thrilled with S&V ... " bounty hunters, we don't need their scum" I will only be picking up one more ship, which happens to be the S&V Interceptor for the Mangler cannon for my Tie Defenders.

That Mangler sure is a pip! I like it more than the HLC, cause it works at all ranges and you keep any crits.

At range one you are still getting four dice... plus you get to convert a hit to a crit for goodness gracious me sakes!

:D

Actually since the Mangler is a Secondary Weapon, you don't get the +1 Attack dice at range 1. Only primary weapons, but it's still very good.

Yeah it is... they dropped the ball on that half of the pilots.

I get why, but that does not mean that I have to like it. That is my big gripe about the whole expansion.

:angry::P-_-

Yeah I messed up in that posting.
