Uh-Oh... nobody is buying StarVipers!

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

At range one you are still getting four dice... plus you get to convert a hit to a crit for goodness gracious me sakes!

:D

Maybe I misread your post but you seem to think you get the additional attack die at range 1 for secondary weapons?

(which you don't BTW)

What was I thinking... yeah thanks you are right on the money. Dab-burn fingers had to much fun.

:rolleyes::blink::lol:

I was still thinking about Boba too with this weapon!

^_^

I somehow added a dice because of his range one rerolls. That is still just crazy to me. Boba surrounded by three enemies, and he has that crit-happy Mangler...

I bought 4, I think I need 4more for epic

I bought 4 of them and looking at all these posts, I intend to try a 4 Starviper build at the next Store Championship. It will probably end badly but **** it, at least I'll go down with style!

I got one for the auto thrusters, never having been a fan of the ship design. Haven't played with it yet either, been too fascinated by the Scyks and the Most Wanted pack. When that novelty wears off, I may give it a try though. That or go back to Imps.

I like The StarViper for Xizor, but I don't think we'll see much competitive use out of the other pilots because they are too costly for what you get.

Xizor's ability is so unusual in the way it affects the game that it intrigues me, and lets me turn the StarViper into a super fighter loaded with upgrades, and play effectively.

I wasn't impressed with the pictures. I bought one and when I opened it its WAY BETTER in person.

The guns look great and the paint is actually not that bad.

Cards in it are great so its worth 2-3 just for the cards IMO.

Ship names are good.... not sure about using the generics. WIll have to see.

I have 3 right now.

If epic takes off will bump it maybe to 4-5.

Or maybe just use them more in 150 point casual games for fun.

I love the look of the ship, it's stats, actions, and dial. I just think the generics suffer because it costed a couple points to high, and the inability to use Systems & Illicit upgrades. If it was 2-3 points less and could use those upgrades I'd be using 3-4 of them. As it is, I think just one of them is a solid anchor with the right Guri or Xizor build.

That is where I am too... for now. I don't even have them yet.

They are due for delivery Thursday.

One thing my roommate pointed out as soon as he saw it it person, it looks a lot better on its side. I definitely intend to convert the mounting pole so that it flies rotated.

Got one recently and for sure want another

Just need some credits

I preorder two Star Vipers. I think the ship looks really unique and cool. Love the Shadows of the Empire N64 game too. The upgrade cards are nice to have so this was a good buy for sure.

I like it. And I'm curious how the generics will perform

I like it too, idea wise and aesthetically. I'd say a good guess is that the generics will perform just as well as the other expensive interceptors like the TIE int generic or e-wing generic; that is to say nobody will take them ever ever ever ever. In fact I'd almost go so far to say as people just straight up won't use many star vipers, but this is mostly because I really want to be wrong and I'd love to make a star viper squadron.

I bought two of them because i wanted to theme a Black Sun squad using Xizor and Guri and whatever else Black sun related in it. Im comfortable with having just two of them I may pic up a third for the sake of having a third. I dont see them filling the nich of a fighter you would build a swarm list with and if so ..with the cost it will be a small swarm. I see them as very potent and capable fighters and should be taken seriously if going against them. Out of every ship in the X -Wing game I am almost afraid to touch them because they feel so fragile and light.

I will agree I dont see them getting much love from the competative scene but that can always change once more people start feeling the StarViper out.

As for me I like them. And im confident it will find its place in X-Wing

I was thinking that generics with autothrusters might be pretty good. Mine are on the way, so hopefully I'll be able to get them on the table soon

i'm not at all surprised it's selling the least because at most you only really need 1-2 in a list

but its dial is absolutely bloody amazing! and probably my favorite dial out there! it does what interceptors wish they could do in a pinch "1 forward speed"

this dangerous butterfly is strong though and perhaps down the road i might own up to 3-4 of them. but right now i'm happy with the 2 that i have.

It does not look the way I want my "superiority fighters" to look. It looms neat, but I don't like pointing to it and saying "my ace flies that" the way I do the e wing x wing and tie interceptor

I think 3 of them +Serissu might be worth trying like a more durable 4X build or XXBB The problem is Serissu only having 3 HP and 2 attack. Yes he will act like Biggs and draw enemy fire first but he either needs the 5 "floater" points spent on survivability. I would probably lean towards Elusiveness+a Hull Upgrade but I don't know if that would be enough

Good! I'll buy my second one on sale!

I was rather surprised to see them sold $5 more than the other small ship expansion packs.

buggers are huge, I guess, and that requires excess packaging

Personally, I bought two of them, and have yet to buy any other Scumm ships (though only because most wanted was sold out at my FLGS- a problem that will be rectified tomorrow). I had never heard of the Scyk before wave 6 was announced, and while I knew who IG-88 was I had never seen his ship. But the Virago- that ship I already knew and loved from Shadows of the Empire. I've been looking forward to getting my hands on a couple ever since they announced it.

I haven't had a chance to fly it yet, but here are my impressions of it so far: at first I thought it would sort of be an interceptor with an X-wing's durability. But after seeing its dual, I don't think that's the case. It's more like a hybrid between the B-wing and the Defender (in fact, it's dial is almost identical to the B-wing, save for a few color changes and the S-loops instead of the K-turn). I'm excited to give it a whirl and see how it does. I think it will be somewhat like the Defender: not as shiny as some of the other new toys, but still quite effective once you figure out how to fly it.

I'm getting three. They are pretty spendy on the points. I'm not sure I'll ever field three of them.

Looks like three are going to be pretty good, even in Epic.

The only real difference is 3s only vs 3+5 Ks
