Could Kath be the Scum version of Super Dash?

By Tvboy, in X-Wing

Has anyone tried this build?

(55) Kath Scarlet - Push the Limit, HLC, K4, Engine Upgrade

3 actions per turn, shoots 4 dice out the front and back with TL and Focus, blind spots on the sides instead of range 1 but is unaffected by Autothrusters! Can't Barrel Roll but has access to an evade token instead.

I don't have Scum, but has anyone tried this build? What would you run with it for 45 points? This might actually motivate me to pick up a Most Wanted pack if it's any good.

I died to it in my first tournament game Saturday, so I would say it works fairly well. Chasing Scum Kath is a Bad Idea.

A build I saw was Kath, Expose, K4, Expermental Interface. 48 points, so enough for some extras. While she cant boost, she can fire 5-6 dice out of her rear arc with a target lock and a focus (potentially).

You can also use expose in your front arc of course, and yes an agility 1 firespray isnt great, but it all depends on when you expose Kath...

Kath Scarlett

-Push The Limit

-K4

-Engine Upgrade

-Hot Shot Blaster

-HLC

Solved that blind spot problem.

eh, not really

scum version of super dash is the aggressor (maneuverable, durable, hard hitting, gives 0 **** about obstacles unless it lands on one)

Kath's more her own brand of terrifying

I came in 4th at a store championship on Saturday flying Kath and Guri.

Kath with Veteran Instincts, HLC, Engine Upgrade, K4 Security Droid, and a few bombs. She came out to 61 points but earned it. 4 dice at minimum 6 when you pull it off - usually with TL (sometimes TL and Focus)

Guri with Lone Wolf, Virago, Auto Thrusts, and Adv. Sensors but I have been having better success with her equipped with Push the Limit.

Ok so it sounds pretty good, what should you run with it? Super Dash usually brings PS 10 support, but Scum only has Boba.

45 Boba - VI, Engine, Dampeners maybe?

I Would Like to try this:

Kath Scarlet

  • Veteran Insticts
  • Andrasta
  • K4 Security droid
  • Protn Bomb
  • Prox Mine
  • Sismic charge

The rest of the Squadron... whatever you like

The thing is, if a ship chases you, it will eat 4 dices normaly with focus (action) and Target Lock (Green Maneuvers, 2 straight for example) and mines, one of each type.

What do you think?

Haha, I like the idea of:

58 pt Kath (PTL, HLC, Hotshot, K4, Engine)

41 pt Fett (VI, Inert Dampeners)

Looks like a neat 2 ship Firesprays list. I mean, Engine Firespray doesn't perform the same as Engine turrets, but I bet some neat wins could be pulled out where Fett is sacrificed for the greater good of Kath pulling out the end game victory.

How were you hitting 6 dice with this build?

I flew my Scum for the first time last night, and I LERVES Kath.

Flew her with K4, Predator, and APL, alongside Emon with APL, Ion Cannon, K4, Andrasta, Prox Mine, Proton Bomb, and Seismic Charge. Still tweaking the list though, took off both APLs and K4s, giving Kath an HLC.

As much as I love Kath though, it was CRAZY fun to throw bombs with Emon's 3-turn or 3-straight... got some really terrific bomb deployments.

I won a tournament on the weekend with the following:

Kath-Expose, Experimental Interface, K4 Security Droid

Eamon-3x proton bombs, Intelligence Agent

It was sweet. Kath is nuts plus Eamon really messed people up

Yeah I don't see how bubblepopmei was getting 6 dice either. In the front arc with HLC at Range 2-3 that's four dice. at Range 1 in front arc that's again four dice. HLC cannot fire out the back arc of the Firespray because it's not the primary firing arc so in the back arc Kath gets her +1 Attack dice at Ranges 2-3 and adds 1 more at Range 1.

In short,

Front Arc: 4 dice with HLC, 4 dice Primary at Range 1.

Back Arc: 4 dice always, 5 dice at Range 1.

In my opinion the hlc is totally unnecessary on Kath but the general build does seem powerful

I've been using Kath w/ PtL, K4, Engine Upgrade, and Inertial Dampeners. She's been doing swell. Butt shot is best shot.

I think that this Kath might be part of my first scum game when I finally get one, but with tactician or mercenary copilot in place of the K4 so that I can get 2 Ion cannon Y wings in there.

Oh. My. God. Eamon with Intel Agent is GENIUS!

This list is a thing of beauty.

Are we really talking about Expose? I guess it makes her attacks very powerful. I just don't think its wise to cut your defense in half. It turns her into a Y-wing with a HU and SU defensively.

I've never been sold on the HLC on any FS, even Krassis. I feel like it forces you to K-turn more than you should. However, I do kind of see why its not so bad on Kath. Makes both ends dangerous.

I do think Palob and Kath could make a nice combo. Maybe something like:

Kath + Opportunist + Seismic + K4

Palob + BT + Outlaw Tech + Crow

Pirate X 2

Fairly simple. Palob goes in and steals tokens for Kath so she can trigger opportunist. Basically at the on-set of the fight you turn Kath away to get shots in with the rear. Hopefully you can get in some 5-6 dice TL + Focus attacks that can really destroy some ships. Palob stores tokens so he can be efficient with the blaster turret. The Outlaw tech lets him perform the 3-banks and 4 straight without the worry of not taking an action. I can drop Seismic and OT for an EU on Kath. I'll have to try it out and see if that's a better option. The Pirates are cannon-fodder and blockers. They will essentially screen for Palob to keep him out of trouble.

I do like that Kath and Boba have been redeemed in Scum. Their Imperial abilities are laughable.

Think of it like this:

Kath and Expose is the very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every snubfighter in the room, accept no substitutes.

*rimshot

personally don't like it. The ship is expensive enough as is and I'd rather spend extra points on getting some extra mobility.

Any thoughts on adrenaline rush on Kath with Proximity Mines?

K turn into someones grill, adrenaline rush the stress and plant a proximity mine right on them then make them eat 5 attack dice at close range

unmodified dice are unmodified

Expose only beats out PTL in average damage if you have K4 security droid, which means 10 points minimum.

Front Arc

PTL - TL+Focus + 3 dice average hits: 2.8125

Expose - TL/Focus + 4 dice average hits: 3

Expose + K4 - TL+Focus + 4 dice : 3.75

HLC / Kath Rear Arc

PTL - TL+Focus + 4 dice average hits: 3.75

Expose - TL/Focus + 5 dice average hits: 3.75

Expose + K4 - TL+Focus + 5 dice : 4.6875

The kicker is that you are losing 0.375 evades every time you get attacked, making you slightly less durable then a Lambda shuttle, which is durable for a 25 point ship, but not for a 50 point ship, and you lose access to Engine upgrade.

I guess the real comparison is Expose+EI+ K4 (10 points) vs PTL+K4+Engine (10 points)

Expose gives you a super accurate super powerful gun, but on a ship that is less durable then a naked Lambda and just as maneuverable. PTL gives you a super accurate but slightly less powerful gun, makes you more durable than a Decimator, gives you access to boost to spin your dual arcs, and also gives you access to focus+evade when you need to defend.

True, but it's guaranteed that your opponent won't be cancelling the results (I don't think there are any effects that can do that?). After all, green dice can be fickle the other way too.
