[SPECULATION] Wave 6.5?

By patox, in X-Wing

We've heard a lot about Wave 7 and beyond. And there's been some speculation on various huge ships, etc. But what will FFG release between Wave 6 and Wave 7?

Here's some history:

Wave 3.5

  • Imperial Aces

Wave 4.5

  • CR90
  • GR-75
  • Rebel Aces

Wave 5.5

  • Star Mats

Wave 6.5

  • Imperial Raider
  • ????
  • ????

My speculations:

I'm calling an exogorth

Since 8 is wrapping up, I am leaning toward the only side release is the Imperial Raider before Wave 7.

Rebel Aces 2

Imperial Aces 2

Scum Aces

Rebel Aces 2

Imperial Aces 2

Scum Aces

It's a bit early to be calling for a Scum Aces. They're more likely to get new ships first.

Imperial Raider. Why would we expect anything else before Wave 7?

Do people think that if they keep saying Gozanti it will come true?

Hope and disposable income?

Yeah, it's kind of weird; we certainly won't be seeing any more Imp epics until after the Raider is out (and I sure as hell wish it to be a Customs Corvette rather than a Gozanti).

The GR-75 and CR-90 were part of Wave 3.5. And I wouldn't call the playmates a subwave, just an accessory.

I don't think there will be anything else besides the Raider between Waves 6 and 7. We might get another huge ship between 7 and 8, though.

How did you know?

Since Wave 7 is apparently alla bout bombs and ordinance, I wouldn't be surprised to see Imp Aces 2 (two bombers) an Rebel Aces 2 (two Ys with a non-scum option of securing bomb load-out)

YES!

...and Chris said so last year, well he said as much as he could say.

;)

Imperial Raider. Why would we expect anything else before Wave 7?

Cause we wants it... needs it's, is why!

Now that explains it... it's a Prequel ship. I'd never heard of the Gozanti 'til I started frequenting X-wing boards and found myself wondering how such an obscure-sounding ship could be so well-known as compared to ships from the various novels.

The Imperial Raider is actually an Epic Ship and Imperial Aces 2, they just put them together so people would have to buy both.

Muhwahaha.

Scum Aces was the Most Wanted pack.

  • Battle of Yavin (XX-9 heavy turbo laser)

People hate Falcons. People hate fortresses.

A turbolaser is kind of a Falcon Fortress by design, except viable.

Imperial Aces - Bomber and Defender

Rebel Aces - X-wing and E-Wing

Not everyone hates falcons man. Maybe Imperial Whiners who are talking only about tournament play.

In casual Play, which is 99.9% of the playerbase perhaps, the Falcon is very popular. That means $$$$$ for FFG.

Falcon in a casual game with NO TIME limit is way way different and all the whining is unnecessary. The 99% play casual.

Falcons are flat-out boring. You'd think based on the numbers fielded that the Rebs would've been better off investing in modified light freighters than effective snub fighters.

Falcons don't exist in my world. We have been waiting on restock for 8 months

Yup, have never used mine. Only got it for possible scenarios with a bit of theme but will not use it otherwise. Then again I was never a huge falcon fan as a kid. My favorite guys in Episode IV were those rock solid Y-Wing heroes. That's why I love casual play, where Y's and Tie Bombers play.

Smart players know that Y-wings have a big role to play in competitive games, as well. Especially with the BTL-A4 title in the mix.

I was actually thinking the next Rebel Box would be "Rebels: Old Guard" Y-wing and Z-95, New pilots, new ordinace, Titles. And the Imperial Box would be "Imperials: Vanguard" Fighters, Bombers. I like having subnames, as Rebel Aces 2 sounds like a bad movie title. :P I was also wondering about a Bomber or more likely a Fighter packaged with a Gozanti, but without an announcement about it at all I'm sad and skeptical. The Z-95 is still too new anyway, and the Y-wing just got a huge update, and the X-wings update wasn't that long ago. I'd be more intrigued by a box set called: "Cutting Edge" with a E-wing and a TIE Defender. a little early patching around their weaker points wouldn't go awry I feel. Though with talk from devs about a bomber fix coming, a "Heavy Assault" Box with a Y-wing and a TIE Bomber would be sweet. Y-wing stuff could be an extension of the scum upgrades, while the Bomber get's an overhaul. Both are due new pilots and deserve alt paints schemes and more

the bomb loadout with S&V isn't S&V exclusive, it is usable with the Rebles..
