Anti-Scum builds

By ericdagamer, in X-Wing

OK, who's got what for Anti-Scum builds in the 100 pt range? What about 200pt?

That seems like a very broad category to build for. Maybe anti-dual Aggressor builds or something like that instead?

Depends on the Scum. Predator will be very strong against the swarmy Scum ships, but will be a lot less effective against double Firesprays or Aggressors.

It's like asking for anti-Imperial lists. There's a pretty broad range for what fits in that category.

I've been flying Aggressors lately, because they're my new favorite ship. I can say that while it's got plenty of green options, it's weakness is still stress. Shutting down the S-loops takes a LOT away from it's maneuverability, and at the end of the day, it's still a large-based ship with no extra firing arc.

Much too broad, it's like saying anti-Rebel, anti-Empire or anti-build. You can't build to counter a whole faction, there's just too much variance in ships.

Eh, Scum is the most limited faction at the moment but they are still varied enough to not possess any one nemesis

closest thing I can imagine is triple phantom (two Sigma + FCS + Int Agent + Stygium, good ole Whisper or Echo) and keep your fingers crossed you don't run into Mux

Feedback is still a legit problem, but at four combined health you're suffering less than interceptors and with four red dice each (and de-cloaks + barrel-rolls) those Zs become much less of a presence.

Anti Y-wing swarm: arc dodgers (especially with autothrusters in case they aren't BTL-A4).

Anti-Aggressors: swarm. I think BBBBZ is harder to overcome than a TIE swarm, but both are an uphill battle.

Those are the only ones I have any experience with yet.

Whisper can kind of counter the entire faction by herself if you use her support ships right. The only exception is VI Boba.

Yeah, swarms are surprisingly effective against dual aggressors if you can block them while they're stressed. The other night my 3 A-Wings managed to kill 1 Aggressor and bring the other 1 down to 2 hull while they were killing Mangler Dash, who was completely useless against Autothrusters. Blocking and range 1 were key, anytime they were able to turtle up and get out of range 1 it was impossible to damage them.

und Mux

those are only direct counters, mind. Soft checks such as feed-back can play havoc on poor Whisper's positioning, letting you get enough shots off to where you only need a feedback or two to take her off the table.

6 x Rebel operative - all naked - no turrets

Well to have an anti-scum build first we need some scum builds.

S&V unlike Rebels and Imperials already have established competitive lists (Tie Swarm, Fat Han, Decimator/Phantom). As for S&V which has only been out for a week we can only summarize some theories on what will be a competitive list.

So far some list that have been talked about.

  • Opportunist thief (palob and lecheros with opportunist)
  • Double IG-2000 (usually B&C or B&D)
  • HCL Shield upgrade Scyks.
  • Feedback Swarm

Still we haven't had a list that has shown to be more competitive than the others. So to counter any of those list mentioned pointless. When a list start to show some dominance in the meta in its own right then you will start to see counter-lists.

No hard tactics yet but I have noticed a few trends about scum that could lead to keys to beating them. First of all they have the lowest average PS of any faction, with only two natural 8s. Obviously torkil mux exists to offset that disadvantage but he's just one guy that won't be in every list. High PS arc Dodgers might give a scum player fits, with auto thrusters of course.

Scum loves range 1. Guri, autoblaster turrets, feedback array and plenty of good dog fighting manoeuvres. I wouldn't stick around in range one unless you had a clear plan, scum like to knife fight.

Against swarms the usual tactics work, predator, assault missiles, ion torps, corran horn.
