Awesome! Though I only play at local level I love your show and Nova Squads as well.
Thanks for the production!

I played this squad last night and had a lot of fun with it.
Palob + Opportunist + RS + MC + Blaster Turret
Guri + Opportunist + Virago + Sensor Jammer + Autothrusters
x2 Binayre Pirates
It was a very back and forth game, the extra attack dice was very good, and PS 5 can make good use of Opportunist.
I personally like K4 security droid on Palob instead of Recon Spec. It limits your dial, but by the time you burn through your built up focus pile either Palob is dead or the game is decided.
I do like the idea of opportunist on Guri, specifically because of Palob.

This config of Guri worked very well. People didn't want to shot at him because of Sensor Jammer and Opportunist. Palob made both those cards more effective. I'm not sure the 2 Pirates are the way to go with this build. I need a way to protect Palob more. I could drop the Pirates and add a Warthog. Not sure what the best fit is yet.

I have been tinkering with Palob / Guri / Drea builds trying to balance target priority, and I like your Opportunist on Guri. Here is my take:
99 points
Palob + Opportunist + Blaster + K4 + Moldy Crow (34)
Guri + Opportunist + AutoThrusters (36)
Drea + Ion Cannon Turret + R4 Agromech + BTL-A4 (29)
I normally wouldn't drop Virago from Guri, but the points just aren't there if you want to make Drea enough of a threat to even out target priority. Even so, Palob is still obviously Public Enemy #1 here, so I anything you can do to increase the DPS of his support ships will go straight through to your opponent.
So here's another idea. Add an even bigger glass cannon:
100 points
Palob + Opportunist + Blaster + K4 + Moldy Crow (34)
Guri + Opportunist + AutoThrusters (36)
Tansarii Point Veteran + Opportunist + Heavy Scyk + Heavy Laser Cannon (30)
Again, all PS5. Guri doesn't need any defensive buffs because the other 2 ships are going to draw so much more hate. The M3-A is actually going to draw more agro than Palob (which is saying something), which should give you the opportunity (get it, har har) to get Palob into at least range 2. Ideally I would try and fly this with Guri in front the closest, Palob in range 2, and the M3-A at range 3 as long as possible.
I think I'll end up adding this one to my Quick Start list. It's all guts and glory, I don't expect that many games would go to time even in a 60 minute round.
I very much like your list 2. that looks very fun!

30 points, 5 attack dice, and 3 hit points. What can possibly go wrong? ;-)
Good episode thanks for brining it back.
I gotta admit though, that it was a little discouraging that the conclusion was that scum is good and all, but really imperials in general and particularly phantoms are the real winners. I really hope you're wrong about that.
I love that Palob might be getting Opportunist some play. I love that card, but it's usually just not good enough.

I actually think Scum have a lot of interesting little counters to Phantoms. They can take a PS10 cannon carrier for 23 points + the cost of the gun. They have a turret that can drop Phantom PS to 0. They have a 4 dice turret Y-wing, they have a host of PS7 pilots that can take VI.
Basically, 25 points in a scum list let's you take something that can put the brakes on Whisper and still contribute against other squads.

The low PS of scum doesn't fit well right now, but they have some great abilities and I really like the illicit upgrade. Torkil is going to be very good, and could shake things up, I think Feedback array could counter low hit point arc dodgers. For Scum to shake things up it will be with new ways of flying, I think more then the ships. IG2000 is a fantastic ship with lots of options so we shall see. Imperial is very strong right now, but we shall see if they can keep their lead.
To me its not just phantoms its Phantoms/Soontir/Vader (when the title comes out) along with the ultra customizable Decimator. Those are 3 of the most cost efficient ships that also can out fly an entire list. They will be strong for a long while.
