No retraction needed from my point of view. It's really only insulting if you view women as inherently less valuable than men, which our society is wont to do, but which is fallacious in the extreme. So, read another way, he's basically just saying he doesn't care about pretty, elegant men wearing spandex who are engaging in a hobby mostly frequented by ladies. Though why he immediately made the jump to men's figure skating is another issue entirely.

I had to watch doubles skating and males skating mostly...that's why made the jump made...

EDIT TO ADD: I hold everyone regardless of sex as equal. My boss is a woman and one of the most capable people I know...my wife calls the shots around my house as well. I am no more valuable than her or her me...
