Chance for more campaigns?

By Kenix, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hey guys, I got invited to play imperial assault with some guys from my LGS last weekend and the campaign was a ton of fun. So now I bought the core game and was wondering if FFG has revealed any information, either at a GenCon (or similar event) or anywhere else about new additions to the campaign.

I know about the upcoming villians and ally packs, but was told they are mostly for the skirmish side of the game. Is this correct?

Also, I was wondering if FFG had revealed any plans to add in new campaigns, more missions for the current campaign, new heroes for the campaign. Or possibly campaigns where the 'heroes' are imperial characters and the rebels are the generic troopers, commanders, etc.

I dont know anything about the skirmish side of the game, but in all honesty it interests me less than the story driven campaign where u can really get attached to your hero =)

Nothing announced yet, but expectations are that we will see a lot of expansions. The game seems to have taken off well, it's climbing the ranks at BGG, and is generally being well recieved, so I think we can confidently expect a bunch of support.

The ally packs each include a new side mission that may go in the side mission deck, each with its own reward for success, and the villain packs each include a new set of agendas the Imperial player can use, including a side mission to get the relevant figure as a villain in the campaign. So the ally and villain packs aren't strictly for skirmish.

And if they follow the model established with Descent 2E, there will be brand new campaigns in the future.

Thats cool, thx for the info, i didnt know that about the ally packs having an effect on campaigns. And im glad to know theres hope for new campaign material to be added in the future.

since there are campaign "eras" mentioned in the rule book (and with the games success and general awesomeness) I am rather sure/I really really hope there will be several expansion and new campaigns. God I hope there will be lots of the.

And if they follow the model established with Descent 2E, there will be brand new campaigns in the future.

They will probably have some demos or at least have an announcement for the new campaign by Gencon, and have a new box set timed for The Holidays.

Other than the figure packs and what they contain, we'll eventually see full expansions likely in a X-wing core set sized box with a new campaign book and new tiles.

You know the little stormtrooper helmet next to all the tile numbers? That signifies they are part of the Imperial Assault core set, so its easier to tell from what kit a particular tile is from.

This is the stuff currently available for Descent:

This is all awesome information. Im really looking forward to the future of IA now. Id love to see a campaign with imperial 'heroes' hunting down pirates, or like a hutt cartel member.

It would also be cool to explore a campaign that featured members of the Secret Order of the Emperor

I'd love to see a mission builder tool that provides the resources necessary to lay out the mission and then add in the objective text. The Memoir '44 community thrived on this kind of fan created innovation and it never stopped them from selling a million of the expansion packs for that game!
