Hi all! New to the site! First post is a store championship list for critique. Thanks in advance!

By LukesandLadders06, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Been toying with this list and so far it has done well. I just like the idea of a multi- rebel list working as one cohesive unit, balancing off each others strengths and weaknesses. What do you guys think? All critiques welcome!!! Thanks all.

AABXY 100 points

PILOTS

Prototype Pilot (17) x 2 A-Wing (17), Chardaan Refit (-2), Autothrusters (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Gold Squadron Pilot (23) Y-Wing (18), Ion Cannon Turret (5)

First, welcomd!

I don't see ant glaring things with your list. It's fairly solid with nothing too crazy about.

One thing to think about when you fly it is that if I was your opponent, I would attack your b wing first then aim for the xwing

That looks pretty decent, I'd be tempted to run that list change it to 3 Bs instead of the BXY combo.

Huge fan of Protos as blockers, may make Autothrusters a little less useful if you're always getting in their face with your As but if you're blocking consistently you're negating at least one shot against them anyway.

Thanks guys!!

Baron, i was thinking the same thing. That B wing is there to soak up fire, also the A wings are there to confuse opponents and divide their fire as well making the ships last longer. Hopefully.

stmack, 3 Bs would be cool. I own 2, but i wanted to use the variety of ships I own and see how that would fare. So far they have beaten a fett and kath list and a howl runner swarm phantom list. the Protos are great at just being a distraction and blocking is a plus! The autothrusters help with their distraction tactic hopefully pulling fire away from YXB formation.

I have another list that takes away an A wing and adds Dutch and Jake for a PS boost.

The 4 points you are spending on Autothrusters on those Prototypes could probably be better spent on Advanced Sensors for the B-Wing and an R2 on the Y-Wing.

interesting idea i was thinking about WWHSD. those upgrades are great on the two ships. But does spreading the points around the 5 ships somewhat evenly sound like a good plan?

If you're freeing up the 4 pts you could always go with R3-A2 on the Y or X (probably X) and a FCS on the Blue as well.

I don't think you are making any of the ships so expensive that they become an obvious target. Prototypes are cheap and in this list are probably the last thing your opponent will want to target. Autothrusters don't add nearly as much capability to a Prototype as Advanced Sensors adds to a B-Wing. I'm sure someone will disagree with me but Autothrusters are only worth taking on more expensive ships that are likely to be priority targets. With low agility B and Y-Wings in your squad, you want people to target those A-Wings, spending points that would discourage that seems like a waste.

man. . .good comments guys.. . . maybe taking off the AT would benefit me? The B wing can benefit from either advanced sensors, FCS, or maybe adding another ion source with the cannon. Which would be more viable in this set up? I guess the R2 is a bonus to the Y wing.

My vote would be for Advanced Sensors on the B-Wing. Being able to TL or Focus before a K-Turn or a 1-Turn is pretty sweet. Being able to barrel roll before moving makes it easier to get where you want to go once the knife-fight starts.

If I've ever got a spare point and a Y-Wing that hasn't taken an Astromech, I'll take R2. Having all of your 1s and 2s green makes it a lot easier to recover from K-Turns and pulling a hard 3 turn. Only being able to shed stress on a one or two forward can be pretty rough at times.

This deserves repeating. Defensive upgrades in general don't do anything unless they're on a ship your opponent plans on shooting. Prototypes don't have a lot of offense but they are annoyingly tanky for their cost, so your opponent is probably going to leave them for last, so moving the 4 points you're spending on Autothrusters to other upgrades elsewhere in the list probably makes the list better overall.

Thanks guys! Great replies.... now to find an E wing.....

They're usually shelved between the D-wings and the F-wings. Good luck!

Lol nice...

Interesting list, I would buff the B and Y wings more as well, but I am rather biased in favour of the tanky ships :)
