Wave 6 in hand and no new preview

By Vykk Draygo, in X-Wing

I for one am glad the forums are full of threads on our new ships instead of threads on things we won't have for months. Very nice change.

I actually enjoy the previews, but they come out WAY too early for my tastes, so I am also enjoying the radio silence. We all know that going to "On the Boat" to "In Stores" is about a 2 month process... why not start the previews then? Is it solely to drum up pre-order sales, and, if so, haven't they noticed that they sell out immediately and they should have a pretty fair estimate of demand at this point?

They tell us the same time they tell distributors. Otherwise we'd find out from the distributors instead of them.

Shush and give me my Raider Crew preview.

THE EMPIRE NEEDS ITS EMPEROR.

I think they got burnt with latest releases. They expected S&V to come out earlier than now and all their releases were more "on time". I think they will hold their cards closer to the chest now. I'm happy about that. To be honest, I'm getting my first Wave 5 stuff with my Wave 6 stuff! It's in the truck on the way to my house right now. So, I'm behind the times.

It's the calm before the storm. Let your wallet recover and enjoy wave 6 while it's new!

You know what's up, OP. It's nice to have the same metagame as Vassel players for once with the exception of a couple TIE Advanced builds.

Nearly all of their X-Wing releases have been two months late, so no. Wave 6 was just as late as pretty much everything else.

Wave 2 was supposed to be out December 2012. It released at the end of February 2013.

Wave 3 came out when it was supposed to, in September 2013. It's an exception to the rule.

Imperial Aces was supposed to be out by the end of December 2013. It came out in the middle of March 2014. This was more late than any other release has been.

The Rebel Transport was supposed to be out in February and the Tantive IV in March 2014, but they were released April and May 2014, respectively.

OK, I think Wave 4 was supposed to be out by the end of June 2014 and it indeed released at the end of June 2014. I guess it's an exception, too. FFG was pretty vague about its originally intended release date.

Rebel Aces were rumored to be set for an end-of-August 2014 release, but instead came out at the end of September 2014. Only one month late, though! Hey! And more than six months after the product was announced.

Wave 5 was supposed to be out by the end of September 2014 and it released at the end of November.

Wave 6 was supposed to be out by the end of December 2014 and it released at the end of February 2015.

The Imperial Raider was originally set for a quarter one 2015 release — by the end of March, in other words — but it's already been quietly bumped back to "quarter two." My money's on the end of May.

Out of eight releases since the original Core Set and Wave 1, five have been two months late and one was one month late.

Anyway, so I don't think FFG has magically learned from their release schedule mistakes all of a sudden. I'm hoping they're simply announcing their next product closer to its release date, like when it's already being put on the boat, in response to fan outcry.

Another possibility is that FFG has pushed back all of its releases this year as a result of the west coast port strike that caused a big backlog of ships to unload. FFG may wait until they backlog is clear before trying to ship more stuff.

No X wing to pre order yet? Guess I'll start a Nomad army to keep my Tohaa company!

I'm pretty certain that the Transport and Corvette where always planned for April/May. Remember, they revealed them really early at Gencon. They even said so themselves.

Yep, it's nice to finally be able to play and enjoy the metagame without knowing that ship X or upgrade X is going to change everything in a month or 2. The X1 and ATC won't be here for at least another 3 months and aren't going to have the drastic effect on the metagame that the IG-2000, Scum Firespray, Autothrusters or the Decimator had.

They also might want to let players have time to look into armada. They have to know there is an overlap. Does anyone have a set of Armada release schedules to compare with the X-wing Schedule?
