Advanced-Gunnery (Assault) strategies and fleets

I would LOVE to put this card in along with a high powered imperial fleet. Just protect the flanks of a VSD-II with whatever and mulch anything foolish enough to get in range. Oh wait, that's a range of three :) Poor Rebels... This is of course assuming that I'm second player, so maybe bring out the big guns and low-ball your fleet score if this is part of your list.

Bringing this card with an Imperial Fleet is pretty much guaranteed. If your opponent selects it then you have a VSD that can double tap from its forward Arc on the same opponent. That pretty much means whatever it is shooting at is going to die.

If your opponent brings it and you select it, then a VSD can still double forward strike, but not at the same target. I think this objective very much favors Imps.

Am I reading this wrong or does it mean that you can shoot ALL your guns in from the same arc? So you can fire all of an VSD's guns from the front, so the front + flank + rear guns all firing in the same arc??

No, you can use all the guns in an arc twice.

'May perform each of its attacks' is referring to the two attacks per turn that caps get.

The second player's text is slightly different. Can the second player fire their 2 shots at the same hull zone on the opposing ship.

Yes. Most Objective cards favor the second player (as a balance to Initiative going to the first play, plus the first players ability to select from 3 different objectives).

In this case:

Player 1) Object Ship may fire from forward arc (or any other arc) two times, but at different targets.

Player 2) Objective Ship may fire from forward arc twice, even at the same target.

For simplicity I just used forward arc as an example, but it can be any arc you wish.

I think you are underestimating the ability of the AF2 to kite the SD at long range, especially with enhanced armament. I think the af2 an Vic have the same number of long range dice... But the af2 doesn't want to as can actually avoid closing with the enemy.

This would depend on if the victory is first or second player. It would be a pretty good chance for the assault frigate if its second player, due to the arcs of the victory giving a pretty solid angle to the rear arc from the sides

This is definitely a good card to chose if you are facing a corvette swarm. Otherwise it makes one ship really powerful...

this is a definite imperial wave one card.

once we get large ships though who knows. I have a feeling a imperial class star destroyer and a mon cal might shed some more light.

I actually really like these objective cards, they add some nice customizable and even random flavor to your games. you get to pick three cards / though you are not sure if you will have initiative or your opponent and who knows what card will be selected. someone at ffg had a great idea to combine the x wing missions with normal x wing games to create this hybrid for armada.
