Inertial Dampeners on a Stressed ship?

By Sergovan, in X-Wing Rules Questions

You have a stressed ship and try a red maneuver but you use inertial dampeners to turn it white. Does your opponent get to change your dial before you make the maneuver because you revealed a red maneuver?

I'm leaning towards inertial dampeners changing the maneuver when it is revealed but thought I would poll the rest of you guys here.

Does your opponent get to change your dial before you make the maneuver because you revealed a red maneuver?

Inertial dampeners tell you to do a White maneuver so no, the other person can't reset the dial even if you have stress. You did not do a red maneuver.

Even if they could, it wouldn't really matter since when you use ID you don't actually perform the maneuver on your dial. So what if you reveal a 5 K-turn while stressed and your opponent resets it to a 3 turn that would take you off the board? If you use ID you wouldn't perform the 3 turn anyway, so the matter is moot.

But, like Vanor said, you are performing a white maneuver so the opponent doesn't really get the chance to fiddle with your dial.
