First game - was great

By Fudwicket, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Oh yes we loved it - how else can 3 Star Wars fans spend a great few hours living a "dream".

Ok "Fanboy" thing over:)

We have only 3 of us that play and we tried the part in the rule book about using the legendary card. Had a great time but we wondered if it would be better to play with 4 Hero's (2 each). Our experience in Descent is this improves the game significantly and balances stuff out. We accept this was game one for us and we need re-visit rules etc but at the end of the game we were reviewing the expereince and felt this was the best way to go but we dont want to find 4 games in we messed up the campaign in some way.

Thanks

Personally, I think 4 heroes is better than the Heroic or Legendary cards. But this can be more difficult for inexperienced players.

If your gaming group has a firm grasp of the rules, and is comfortable running multiple heroes, I'd suggest 4 heroes.

The only "hindrance" with playing multiple characters is after you play a handful of missions you'll have a pile of cards in front of you that come into play every time you attack/defend. It just can be a bit overwhelming and hard to keep up with therefor making it easy to forget things. If you don't think that is a problem then go for it!

I belive the missions are more balanced around 4 heroes, I recal to have read some missions are tilted in one way or the other when playing with just two heroes

It does say 1-5 players...

Playable Balanced.

I will admit that Imperial Assault comes very, very close. I think they did a great job, but if you can swing it, playing with four rebel characters seems ideal.

This is true. My previous post was meant to be taken with a bit of sarcasm.

My group only had three players. We started off with one hero each, with the Legendary cards equipped, and the heroes seemed to breeze through everything. After a couple rounds, we dropped the Legendaries and let them both control two heroes, at which point I, the Imperial player, cleaned house for the next few rounds.

It makes me curious as to how the 3-hero variant would work. It seemed a bit complicated, but not overly-so.
